Root Removing the LG ui on the connect.

Hi everyone doe's anyone know if it's possible to remove the LG ui overlay? I think it slows the phone down and I don't really like it either. I would rather just have stock gingerbread type ui without having to dl'd a launcher or something to do it. Thanks guys/girls.

Wouldn't it already be in the frame work? Is there no way to get rid of the factory ui and leave the stock android?

Wat ever your trying to do you need to be rooted before you can do anything with the framework. Res :-)

I'm rooted debloated, running stock atm, if I delete LG home will I still have the standard Android/gingerbread home or is lg's integrated into it? I'll keep digging I just don't want to mess something up.

Check first.

Go to settings, applications and find lg home.
Clear defaults.

Press home button and see if it let's you choose between two launchers.

If not then download an alternate launcher and either use titanium backup to make it a system app (long press the application and the option is near the bottom of the list) or a root explorer to move the apk to /system/app. Reboot and make sure your new launcher works as a system app, then delete lg home.

Hi what's up toke, remember you from the ascend forums, good to see you over here. I tried all you're suggestions but I don't think it'll work like I was thinking, it just brings me back to my holo launcher:mad:

If you cleared defaults and home still takes you to the same launcher then try the app replacement method.

I guarantee it works with launcher pro and 2.3 launcher as I have tested it with both.

You don't need root for this, just download a new launcher. the lg home launcher will stay in memory until you root the phone and use an uninstaller or something to that effect to remove the now unused launcher apk

Already rooted and debloated.
And if you remove lg home it's a REALLY good idea to move your new launcher to system/app because if you need to factory reset and you haven't got a launcher in system/app you will essentially soft brick your phone.
You will boot, get to lock screen, unlock to a black screen with only a status bar. ;)

Yea thanks all, I guess what I'm trying to do isn't gonna work, at least not in the way I had in mind... I would've thought that there was a standard "gingerbread" launcher within this phones system, and by disabling LG home it would launch instead:confused: and I see that that's not the case, lol!:D

Would you like a stock 2.3 launcher?

I mean, if you are rooted already there's no reason not to make the phone exactly how you want it. ;)

No, I was just trying to see if a launcher existed in the system with LG home disabled, I had the admire and when I deleted the stock launcher it loaded another vanilla gingerbread launcher even though I had no other ones installed.

I know what you were trying, that's why I told you how to check.

I was going to link you to a vanilla gb launcher

hey, that is a really good idea, I never thought of that, hmmm, if I can do that with a launcher, I can do it with a keyboard and my sms/mms app. Then instead of just freezing those apps, I can just uninstall? It seems even though I've removed data from the stock messenger and have it frozen, some people still get two texts from me, although I no longer get two replies. hmmmm, the possibilities.

Removing and replacing stock keyboard does NOT work with gokeyboard but I haven't tried others. Nor have I frozen stock SMS/mms app.

Beware, frozen apps stay frozen upon factory reset.
