The box is a lie.

First, of all in regards to obi - **** off and die a slow, painful death.

There, now that's out of the way, I just got a call from my VZW buddy. He told me that the HTC rep is expected in his store within an hour and he recommeded that I come in as soon as I can and "act like a customer." He told me that's probably my best way to find out any info - to hang as close as I could to the conversation that he'd be having with the rep. So I'm off; not exactly sure when I'll report back - wish me luck!! :)

This quote would best describe me once CTIA is done and no official announcment of the incredilbe

"...there isn't nothin' like the sight of an amputated spirit. There is no prosthetic for that..."

I was looking at vzwoffers twitter page and there were alot of twitters asking about the incredible....all of the replys were pretty much the same "we have some good stuff coming very soon..."

The generic 'try to keep them interested in the crap we are giving them' line.

The operation is a go!!!

Red team move in!!!

Not being able to use Skype over Wifi is actually a great call by VZW. A ton of packets would end up getting dropped and the call would sound like garbage leading users to complain to VZW.

Maybe that's your reasoning, but it pretty much defeats the purpose of having Skype to begin with. Skype's best functionality would be to have it available if you weren't able to make a voice call. A backup line of sorts, but only allowing it on 3G connections is like putting a life raft on a boat, but saying you can only use the life raft in the water if the main boat is still working fine.

how come SPrint can annouce HTC evo so early?

Because Sprint isn't run by a bunch of tight a$$ douchebags who think that their $hit doesn't stink. Verizon actually thinks those stupid commercials about their coverage map is going to steal customers (iPhone users) from AT&T.

Geuess what a**holes. It's going to be a great device + your network (mainly device IMO) that gets you new customers. It's going to be your current attitude and smugness that will get you to lose them.

Put your bluetooth in and skype us... We'll hack into the mainframe and walk you through the whole Mission Impossible...

Remember if all else fails, take the HTC rep hostage and go Jack Bauer on his ass until he tells you everything.

Whats this box everyone's talking about?

Can you describe the box in a 150 word essay?

Can we get a picture?

Maybe a water color?

Digital Rendering?

Maybe you can purchase some of those x-ray glasses in the back of Mad Magazine?

Or maybe the box doesn't even exist? Maybe its in your mind? Have you tried bending the box?

Ha sorry, I read my post and I sounded like a dick.

Nah, you didn't, it's all good. :) I was going to say "there may or may not be a wireless device which may or may not be called the HTC Incredible which may or may not be released sometime between today and June 19th (end of spring)," but I think a few others beat me to essentially that. :D

That is a FACT. Think about it, how did AT&T "steal" so many of VZW's customers IF network and "3G" coverage is all it took? I'll tell you how, but selling a piece of equipment that PUSHED the industry to do something new. Map-shamp. Sell me a piece of equipment that gets me pumped up and excited.

In a totally non-related side note, did you hear that the Devour is out. Now THAT'S EXCITEMENT!

I liked your Tweet but why filter it with Bullcrap? I think Ivan would respond better to the "R" rated version.

I also don't think that's his twitter account based on the fact he only has 3 followers. Could be wrong though.

I think it's crazy to think that VZ is going to release this as long as the "any smartphone BOGO" is going on. I'm kinda surprised they even started the Devour now. It would seem the only phone they could talk about before the end of the month is the Nexus One as they won't be selling it so smartphone BOGO won't apply.

The best advantage to Skype is the Skype to Skype calling. You can call another Skype user no matter what device they're using. It's added flexibility to making just a regular call.

So what that it doesn't work via WiFi? Use Fring when you don't have 3G. As I said, this is just the first step towards true VoIP on VZW.

Sprint has always typically announced their phones up to months before its release. The key thing to take a note of is that most experts (including Sprint's) believe that their 4G network will be inferior to that of Verizon's LT. I didn't realize this until I listened to the head of tech for Sprint pretty much confirm this during an interview on CNBC yesterday. It has something to do with the spectrum that Sprint will be utilizing.

He said yesterday that they were trying to get as much hype as possible for being first, but not necessarily best.

I did find an article this morning that discussed that Sprint's network was testing at a fraction of the speed they hoped (100mb/s vs 10mb/s) at best. I didn't want to post it here as it didn't really apply to the Incredible. Verizon's tests are coming in at quite a bit higher speed. But, to answer your question...according to Sprint, this is why they announced so early.

Why should they have to use Fring? Why not let Skype use any available data connection to route the call.

Why not use Fring all the time where you don't have to worry about having a 3G connection, but as long as you have a data connection your good to go?

They seem to be cutting off their own legs when they don't need to.
