Important Information for Everyone with this Phone Directly from HTC Escalation

The more I look, the more likely it seems to be the PRI, the question is, can we use theirs (most likely yes).

I'm not that scared to flash it, I'm scared of the flashing process, which seems pretty intense. If it was a cheaper phone I would have done it already.

What specifically is the PRI anyway if you don't mind me asking?

I am going to wait until end of August and see. Evo 3D will have an update soon. Assuming it is not delayed, then I'll see what happens. If I don't see much complain on Sprint forum, then an update is promising.
I think I will try to wait a while too. I have not had the text error at all since last week, when they flipped some switches somewhere on my account. I have had where the signal drops to nothing and then it takes a short time for the text to actually send, but then it does. I seem to be receiving most of my texts on time as well. There are a few issues with the phone still, it's not perfect yet, but since my texting / calling is working for now, I will hold out. I just don't want to buy yet another phone right now. I am going to keep my eye out for any new kind of plans. But as long as my phone is functional, I will hope for a patch until I find something better.

I for one, just bought the Nexus, and man am I excited.
Congrats! I would do the same if the plan worked for me. I'm sure it will be a relief not to have to deal with any of this nonSense. (:D)

I'm going to wait it out. I've gotten the error since day 1 but no where near as bad as others have had it. Now it only happens once or twice a few days. I don't use the phone so much that it bothers me when it does happen. It's mainly used for work anyway. All my chatting are done online.

It should be noted that you need to be using the STOCK messaging app for the error to appear. If you use a custom SMS app, the error doesn't appear, but your text still won't send and the error is actually occurring without notification.

Huh, interesting. I was not aware of this. I had actually switched to GO SMS Pro, I didn't like stock messaging. I wonder if I go back to stock for a few days if I will start seeing the error again. I might try that. But, even if I do, I am still not receiving my texts very delayed, as I was the first week that I got the phone.

I live in the Atlanta and I my work takes me all over the metro area. I have had this issue only a few times. It always happens when i have a weak signal. For me a quick toggle of Airplane mode usually fixes it.

The good news...
After reading through 100+ pages, I may have in my possession a simple patch that could fix it.

The bad news...
I have absolutely no idea what will happen if we use it. I'm trying to get through to a dev who can possibly answer that question.

Wow! That would be awesome.

I hope you guys fix it! I am actually making some progress on getting refunds for my past few months and the phone directly from Virgin, regardless of the fact that I bought my unit at RS.

Wow..that fix that Leslie Ann speaks of does seem to be pretty intense, as you have to actually brick your phone to do this and you cannot do this from any computer. I'm also seeing where people have done this and their 3g doesnt work anymore.

You have to be ABSOLUTELY precise if going this route or you could actually make things worse. My goodness! I just may have to pass on this one.:( Gosh..i hope HTC figures this one out. I was supposed to get this phone almost 2 months ago.

Where is this possible fix? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

The intense fix is still questionable for us, even if you do go through the whole process, you could end up with a brick.

There is possibly an easier fix, but I need to confer with another dev or two first, which would be a simple flash.

This explains why i have never had this issue...using you know Google's Android...I use a lovely service called Google Voice....and when someone needs to send me a picture they send it to my regular number.

Why some people dont use google voice makes me wonder.

Just to note, I reverted back to stock messaging today to test this out, and lo and behold, I received the error today.

They're reimbursing you for the phone? Do they know that you didn't purchase it through them? I would keep that in mind in case I leave VM as well. Which department did you speak with?

I decided to jump ship before my return window closes. Sprint's network in my area is sub-par (no 4G and 3G isn't' that great) and I think that may trigger the radio interface issue. Either way, I'm not settling.

I was able to get a couple of Galaxy SIIIs fully subsidised with Verizon, completely offsetting their monthly cost vs. Virgin's. (VZW 4G rivals my cable modem's speed in my area.)

Thank you, metal, for pursuing this and keeping us informed; it enabled me to make a decision I was comfortable with.

No problem. As a recent engineering degree recipient, it's only my duty to try and fix problems like this with technology and to help people make informed decisions.

I haven't confirmed that they are yet, however they asked me where I bought it and I said RS and then they told me to send the receipt to them. So it's possible they will refund me for the phone and my service. They're getting permission now from a different department. The department I spoke with is directly related to the SaveMe@thevirginangels.com email which is actually the executive escalations department for VM. I spoke with the people who work there and run under that email. I don't know how secret this phone number is, but the number to get to them is 866-553-9809. They may say they're Boost mobile, so just specify that you're looking for Virgin Mobile support. They are who to speak with. I would still email the email I mentioned first before attempting to call them directly, but that's their number.

Wow, how'd you manage that? Are you signing up for a contract plan, if I may ask? According to a service rep, the Galaxy S III doesn't work on their prepaid plans. I can't make myself sign up for any contract plan (yet), as bad as some of these prepaid carrier issues may be, I feel like I'm signing my soul away.

If only they would have people with your ideals running these companies and releasing some of these phones.

Thanks for the info. I don't think would work for me anyway. I originally bought the phone from Best Buy, and then returned it, to buy it from ebay for $50 less. A CS rep told me that he saw that the phone was purchased from a Walmart, but it's not like I have the receipt for that. (He was telling me this because regardless of where I got the phone from, VM would ship another device out to me if mine wasn't working, while it's under warranty. The devices they send out, though, are refurbished.)

The number is the same as the one for tier 3 support, other than the last 2 digits. (866-553-9806.)

I'm tempted to port my number to Google Voice for texting and acquire a new number from VM.

It's even worse for me. I live in a bad signal area, which triggers the bug every few minutes very easily, so I'm forced to use Gmail to make just about all my calls as well
