just fyi... no adr6300vw's (incredible) on this weeks shipping log for friday.. a shit ton of adr6200's (eris's)

ehh, not what i wanted to hear but at least ill be in Italy for the next week so it doesnt really matter as long as there is some good news when i get back ;)

So, I've been reading this forum for a while and decided I'd chime in today with some info passed along from a good friend who is a manager at a vzw direct store in ny metro area. I just stopped by to visit on his break and asked about the Incredible and Nexus One. He looked somewhat surprised at my asking and said that coincidentally he just finished up a training seminar for the N1 (and Skype Mobile). However, he said some weird stuff regarding the Incredible... The jist of the conversation is below:

Me: so man, totally random, but have you heard any news about a new htc phone called the incredible? or even the nexus one? i'm due for an upgrade soon and figured i'd give you some business

Him: i've heard of them both but they haven't told us any firm release dates. but i really think that the nexus one will hit sooner, possibly sometime this coming month [april]. we started hearing lots of stuff about the incredible over a month ago and then everything died down. the latest i heard is that they might be trying to re-work it with lte and that is why it's fallen off the radar on the retail end. apparently with all the new infrastructure they're working on they want a nice flagship phone to compete with that new sprint one and felt that the best representation was what they had going already with the incredible.

Me: oh shit wow, so maybe some big changes coming?

Him: yeah, their main goal is to push skype video by the end of the year. right now it's just calls, but what they're really going for is 4g video conferencing. i mean, this part is all just rumors and speculation, but even if this crap doesn't pan out, i don't see the incredible coming out in it's current form until at least may. i usually get training for phones about 2-4 weeks before a phone is released. thats why i really think the n1 will be out way sooner since we had that shit goin on today for it.

Now guys, I don't know if what he is saying will hold, and neither does he. he was just saying that based on what he's heard he is way more pessimistic than our group as a whole ;) Him and me both are hoping he isn't right and we get an incredible phone soon, but I just figured i'd provide his insight...

Guess it stands to reason Verizon wants to unload all those Eris's before they release a better HTC Android device. Unless Montana Man has some insight to add I image we will be waiting another week before we hear anything concrete.

mickeymjay @jason_dockery @thehometownhero How about you check our the #Devour and give us your feedback. Do it now :-) about 7 hours ago via TweetDeck

barryswallace Hi Barry, Have you checked out the Motorola Devour yet? You should, tell us what you think. about 7 hours ago via TweetDeck in reply to barryswallace

Seriously thinking of signing up for Twitter to tell them to get their head out of their @ss and quit suggesting the Devour to those asking about the Incredible. They don't even come close to each other. Why would they think they can pacify someone who wants the Incredible with the Devour?

I am going to assume the phone wont be out till after the bogo for android is done.

Bad assumption. By that logic it will never happen. People have been using "end of the BOGO deal" theory since November as an indicator of when something will be released. Let me just give you some insight on how this goes: on April 1st, there will be another BOGO deal initiated. It'll last until the next one. And so on, and so forth, yada, yada, yada, etc.

Great, another 16,000 posts to take us into May

Nope, you're one of...5 (I think) on here stuck with it. I don't have the balls to flash it, as it is my ONLY phone. I'm on my third one though, and the screen is already peeling on this one. Need...Incredible...new...phone....

EDIT: It's actually 6 or 7, I'm thinking now

Good-I don't feel as lame anymore. I didn't have the balls to flash mine either but I'm running android 1.5 through a haret launcher off my sd card. A soft reset takes you right back to good ol' winmo.

Using this really made me want a true android device and I've been patiently waiting for the INCREDIBLE since last November.

Do it.

FWIW:

Stopped by a local Verizon " authorized retailer" tonight as I was looking for one of those " dumb" phones for my husband. I started asking the guy about what kind of new phones were coming out. He was like- " Yeah Verizon's going to be coming out with a bunch of really cool phones, some will have HDMI, some 1GHz processors....... blah blah blah. So, I asked him if he knew about a new Android phone coming out from HTC. He said he did but didn't know when it would be out. I asked him also, if he heard about anything coming out in the next month or two but he said no.
So here again stores know nothing about when phones are actually coming out- He most likelygot what info he had just like the rest of us

Seriously guys, settle down about the Twitter. It isn't a hard line to the Corpo offices. It is probably just some lower level employee. Why wouldn't they push the newest phone over one they have never even mention?

Bah. If it drags on until May, it'll make for a real easy wait on the EVO. I'll bet by then someone will have a general idea of when in the summer it's releasing. Unlike Verizon, when it comes to secrets Sprint is leakier than a sieve, though not so much as T-Mobile is like a 12-year old girl in the school cafeteria. I'll just come back to Verizon when they get their sh*t together with 4G next year. I can deal with Sprint for a year, and I'll have 4G access most of the time in the Baltimore area where I work.

Hmmm, I want this bad boy now, BUT honestly, I'd rather see it come out with LTE and a front cam like the EVO. That said, I'd really rather it come out with those features AND now. Even if LTE hasn't rolled out, the spec has, right? Radios are doable then. Firmware kill the radio till LTE releases, give us a video phone, and own Sprint and AT&T all at once.

EDIT:

" Yeah Verizon's going to be coming out with a bunch of really cool phones, some will have HDMI, some 1GHz processors....... blah blah blah.

This would be good too. Just a theory...but keep your eyes open for another wave of test phones. They may rework it to match the EVO (per VZW request)

Exactly. If it's coming out soon, why announce it? People will just stop buying the droids and eris's and they won't be able to get rid of them, or will have to greatly lower the price. No one here is going to switch until the evo comes out anyways. It makes sense from a business standpoint. If the Incredible comes out in 2 weeks by surprise, no one is going to get pissed that it wasn't announced earlier and not get it.
