Root Advantages to Updating Radios & Wimax

Hey guys I am curious what the advantages are to updating the Radios and Wimax on my evo would be? Also what are the disadvantages of updating and what are the disadvantages if I don't upgrade?

for the most part updating your radios is not completely necessary, unless your radios are really old. i have seen where for some it has given better signal and for others worse signal or even no change at all. so it depends and is totally up to you.

the only thing you have to be careful is to NEVER PULL THE BATTERY OUT while the radios are installing. that is a sure fire way to brick your phone.

also there is a small chance that you could loose your wimax keys as well. just make sure to make a nandroid backup with your wimax keys backed and keep the nandroid backup safe someplace like your computer. if you do loose your wimx keys, all you will need to do is just restore that nandroid backup.

Thank OCNBRZE you the man. You're always so helpful. One more thing you flash the radios and wimax just like you would flash a ROM or like flashing a recovery?

yep most radios are flashed in recovery. however, there are a few out there that is done using the PC36IMG file via the bootloader.

I'm very worried about flashing new radios just got my replacement phone from best buy and it came with froyo 2.2 on it. Just got done rooting it and noticed that the radios are old. But it really freaks me out to flash them knowing the risks involved. Contemplating weather its worth it.:(

Use amon ra as your recovery, check the md5 for your download and don't pull the battery. Flash away! It will boot you back into recovery when done and once that happens you can reboot.

Just to put it out there. A nandriod won't fix your radios if you bork the flash. They sit on a different area of the phone than most everything else you'll flash.

I found out the hard way.

There's nothing like a phone that just sits there and stares at you.

That being said if you monkey it up flashing an ruu combo with the radios in the zip should put you back to stock if things go sideways:rolleyes:
