If there are indeed boxes going to the corporate stores, then I am going to press one of the guys across the street that seems vulnerable to me.

I've been wanting to join this forum/thread for a long time, but felt I never had something to contribute- like you said, 95% of the stuff is just rehashed over and over. Most people are too lazy to go back 5 pages, let alone 300+ pages (or even venture to the evergreen thread).

At this point, it's about community. Everyone is getting their panties in a bunch because they expected the device to be released already. Lurkers (I'll admit, myself) are coming out of the woodwork. I say welcome (I'd hope I'm welcome even though I have no actual useful information to share).

I know that as a new member, even though I've been following for quite some time, that I have no right to jump on a soap box. I just thank everyone for their contributions of great information, in depth spy work and deep digging.

I've never been this stoked about a phone. Ever. Not even close. This has become an (unhealthy?) obsession, and pushed only further by this thread. All and all, this phone seems to be worth it, especially for a first time smart phone user let alone android. Bravo to all the detective work. And poo-poo to all the doubters/trolls/Debbie-Downers.

Actually, could be an authorized retailer too. And I agree- it's not a question likely to be answered to just anybody- it's sort of an odd question, don't you think?

This would be another reason why I doubt your story. How pissy you get with people. What are you pissed about? I doubt your story, I put up logical reasons why I do. You've never countered them. But what tips you over? Me listing 3 phone numbers for someone to call which are most likely going to be long distance for him. Big whop-dee-doo. Whats going to happen if Kovacs calls those numbers that has you so worked up?

But hey everyone, don't take my word. Simply go and use the "Search this thread". Click on "advanced search", put my name in the user name field and just "montana" in the keyword field. See for yourselves if I've been "on him" from day 1.
The only time I've really come down on you is when you told someone to "**** off and die a slow, painful death." because you couldn't take a joke. Whether you go the joke or not is immaterial. It sure as hell didn't deserve that kind of response and I sure as held held you and your defenders to it. I wouldn't be surprised thats why we got a warning. Outside of that the only comment that comes close to negative is when I made fun of the box, also using the same joke Obi did but saying it was "Pandora's Box".
 
So, turns out, I have a friend that works at the big red. I started a side project for him recently and we got to talking. He has a pretty nice title, and from the name of it, you would automatically think he would know something. His title is Manager of New Technology, but swears up and down that he knows nothing about the phone.

He only gets access to newer phones when projects he directly works on come into his area of work, which he said isn't this phone.

If someone with his status can't deliver information, then they must have this phone on LOCK. Which seems to fit everything else everyone has said.

And I apologized to Obi, you dense twit! Call every Verizon store in the country, knock yourself out. You clearly have no life anyway. Or let Gilligan do it for you. And that explains why you ripped Nash - who's been nothing but classy - a new one as well today? Call away - knock yourself out, clown.
 
Well I'm glad we got our bit of news for today. Certainly nice to see. I really can't thank you enough MM!

BTW, I would just like to do a blanket apology because I was going through some of my old posts and the grammar and general structure of them are just horrible. I need to start reading these posts before I actually post them. I pretty much have been just typing my thoughts as fast as I can and pressing "post quick reply."
 
This is all getting ridiculous. I love you Montana! It's a damn good story. And who cares if it was made up?! At least it gave a LOT of people some hope. :)

Poor Steven is on his last leg over there...at least he can finally breathe again. lol

You apologized well after I had brought it up. I went after Nash for his weak "well he's been getting flak on an internet message board" excuse and to explain it was a joke. If you are so caught in a message board to react like that you need help. You want someone to die because of 1 weak sentence on an internet message board, but I'm the one with no life?
 
Seriously guys take it to PMs. If MM is lying, you know what? Don't trust him next time he says something. I see no reason not to believe him and it's not like he was able to do anything more than reinforce the current time-frame for delivery anyway - which is great - but it's not like everyone is hanging on his word. There have been quite a few other 'sources' anticipating a mid-april to early may release that his info jives with.

We don't need you to go Judge Judy in the phone thread in the meantime before the guy has been convicted. You're flat out harassing the guy at this point.
 
Well, I'm outta here. To those who want to play Sherlock Holmes, go for it. Call your Verizon stores, your HTC reps - call away. I have NOTHING TO GAIN by lying to a bunch of strangers over a damn telephone. This forum has been beneficial for me but has also had its share of psychotic asswipes that I don't need in my life. To the friends that I made in here- THANKS! YOU WILL BE MISSED! Today, I tried to impart an event that I thought was beneficial, but the jackals ultimately come out of the woodwork when the sun goes down and, in time, they always take down the elephants. I've seen it happen in the wild - now I've witnessed it here. Never fails. C-ya.
 
All of this arguing is going to result in the closing of the thread again :mad:. The posts these past few days have really been pushing it because they're no longer discussion and speculation about the device, it's become complaining about how verizon owes a very small group of enthusiasts something that it hasn't even acknowledged to the public. If this keeps up we will all have to default to engadget or *gasp* even cnet for our leaks and info.
If MM was lying then whatever, no one is forcing you to believe him.
Don't ruin this lifeline of info for the rest of us and the dozens of "lurkers" who visit this daily for news of our beloved device. :(
 
Okay, so I got a Droid the day it released, and then a few months later it's the BOGO offer. So I got pissed and called Verizon a few weeks ago asking why they do this to their faithful customers. They said they couldn't do anything yadda yadda so when the survey call came around I rated them lowest on everything and said I wouldn't recommend them to others. 2 days later I get a phone call asking what the problem was, I explained that I wanted a free Droid and was willing to sign a new 2 yr contract for a second line for my wife and he said "I will see what I can do". Well just this afternoon I got a call back from the same guy saying that I couldn't get a free Droid now, but that a new android-based phone from HTC was coming April 1st and that they would make an exception to the 30 days rule for me if I wanted to bring my Droid back and buy the new phone. He never actually said the name Incredible tho.

So why don't you people arguing back and forth just sit back and freakin' relax.
 
Before signing off for the night after another day with fighting a loosing battle with my new found addiction, I would like to say "Thank you" to MM for the thoughtful post and information presented. I would similarly like to say "Thank you" to those who are mature enough to refrain from posting unfounded attacks on MM for what he had to say even if you have some doubts. I personally, don't think most people (MM included) could make something like that up. Truth is so often stranger than fiction.

My closing remark is a repeat of one I mentioned some megabytes ago. Has anyone given any thought to the possibility of being able to dual boot the Incredible to Android and Windows Mobile? Why? To see if it can be done.

So a HTC rep drives all the way from Spokane to a small local Verizon store in Montana, wearing a suit - why? Just to complain about the dust on the HTC display models?

I love the image - part Colonel Sanders, part renegade cowboy. The contrast between the white Lexus he was driving and his use of the archaic term, "What in the Sam Hill" (BTW, it's Sam Hill, not Sam Hell) is especially imaginative. Kudos on that one.

How convenient that in the next part of your story, the only piece of evidence that could support your tale, mysteriously disappears in the back of the white Lexus:

Obviously, you guys need to read more bad fiction. Nice try, MM, but I'm not biting. If a person really had the time and inclination, they could call the local Verizon store managers in Montana to poke a hole in your story, especially given that you volunteered earlier that you were within 30 or 45 minutes of some national park - I forget which, but it's in one of your recent posts. Others may have more time than me, however...
 
Ok, I've seen all this and thought I'd throw somethin out there since you're all panting with your tongues out :D We had exec visits this week- our area pres came and she had the Incredible- per her, another 4 to 6 weeks. Personally, I'd say more like 6 to 8 because this was the first any of us had ever seen one or heard anything about a definitive release date..

My source has told me that the phone should be released within Thirty days based on what he was told by someone else higher up. :)

Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all the trolls and haters that couldn't just leave well enough alone... How is it any skin off your ass to just let something slide. You gotta get all high and mighty on your nerd thrones. As far as I know this guy spent his morning trying to get a little info to tide us over on what had been a pretty slow week info wise. You can't prove anything different, but in true lamer fashion have picked and picked and pissed the guy off to the point that a member of the thread is considering leaving... WTF... regardless of your opinions on the matter- apologies are in order- personal attacks are not warranted.

If the thread is locked or closed it's gonna because of crap like this...
