Root Problems with PG76DIAG.zip file

HannaBlu

Newbie
So recently i was trying to get some new fonts for my HTC Wildfire S (Tmo, Unlocked bootloader, rooted) and when it was done loading the fonts it called for a reboot which when it started, it got stuck on the HTC boot screen (white background green HTC).

I've tried to reboot it - no luck, take battery out - no luck, factory reset - no luck. So i found this post:

http://androidforums.com/wildfire-s...ock-rom-ruu-after-bricking-rooted-device.html

... and i've tried to follow the instructions... BUT.... when i get to: "4. Boot the phone into bootloader (power off, hold down volume and press power) and highlight FASTBOOT using the volume rocker and pressing power. Then connect the USB cable. You should see FASTBOOT USB." I got an error message saying the PG76DIAG.zip was missing, no image....

So i found the file, put it on the card, now it said "wrong zipped image".... then "Parsing...[PG76DIAG.nbh] [1] MFG DIAG Security Fail! Update Fail! Press <Power> to reboot."

But if i do, it just goes back to the bootscreen again....

I've tried to reformat the SD card to FAT32 still no luck... now i'm stuck...

I've been at it for about 2 days now and i'm mighty frustrated and hopeless....

I need help, please!

Hi,
The prompt that the PG76DIAG.ZIP or PG76DIAG.nbh and other files are missing is normal.... (It displays a fraction of seconds.....ok?)

Goto HBOOT Menu and wait for few seconds before proceed, since it will search for some files....

Did you select 'Fastboot' by pressing <Power> in the Bootloader??
(Make sure you delete the DIAG files you copied on SDcard and try now...)

I got rid of the files from the SD, yes, I held volume down, power to get into hboot, then power to get into fastboot

I've got that done.... it's still stuck on the HTC boot screen :-(

What ver of HBOOT is displayed...?
Would you type the details of the Hboot menu.....?
(I've got the same font problem with my Wfs, got it back and mine is not T-mobile.)

Hi,

Did you take a Nandroid Backup from recovery menu when rooted? (Sorry, I should asked this firstly in this thread...)
If YES, you can recover back all easily.....

But *** UNLOCKED *** is not there & must be displayed in this above pic...
Have you unlocked & rooted PROPERLY...?

If you are unlocked...

I hope the details in your pic is usually displayed for anybody.
After this, What is displayed on screen..?

you should able to see like this:

MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.53.39.03M
Nov xx xxx, xx:xx:xxxx -------(This is displayed on my device but may vary on yours...)

HBOOT

<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item

FAST BOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC

(here 3 Androids on Scatboard...)
-----------------------------------------------------------

if you are able to see, select 'FAST BOOT' and then execute cmd Fastboot commands to install Recovery....

If this is useful or helpful press 'thanks'......
or anyone with more experience might help you..
Best of luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. Finally got it working. I think something must have been corrupt with the original ROM because we tried to flash it back to the stock ROM and it always gave an error message...

So moved on to custom ROM... currently have WildChild v2.0 on it...

Just got it fixed so i'm still not sure if i like this or not.... any other suggestions for custom ROMs?

Thanks again for your help! :o

All right... finally got it right around 10pm last night.... i've tried a few different ROMs but i just wasn't happy with them... they were all missing something i liked.... so i finally found the one that i love.... WildChild Sense Which is a great mix of the original WildChild and the stock Sense ROM!

I have around 70 apps installed already and still over 80MB free internal space!! YAY!!

Once again, i'm a happy camper!

Yes. It will not work without driver. It's like wanting to use a USB output in a normal plug. They're different. You need the right driver.
