Root GUIDE: From stock 1.5 to the latest root 2.1

lol would if i could brotha. but seriously pm me sometime and ill send ya some cash or something. so just use the nexus launcher and go to the market and enjoy huh? :)

Damn, I've always wanted a Ferrari!

Oh well, ya, that's it, just download live wallpapers and enjoy. Remember not all of them work though.

also what is the wallpaper that ripples like water when you tuch it? i may have saw that on a moto droid im not quite sure but if you know of it let me know please

what kind of clocks are their? any suggesstions? also any weather widgets that are cool like the live htc one? doesent have to be exact but a weather widget would be nice

that's the only one i've found that i really like. I like the nexus wallpaper, but it doesn't work right. :(

does anyone know how to get tethering working with the 2.1?
I tried downloading the automated script but there was no option for installing it. option 5 was exit

EDIT:
never mind, tried it out of pure curiosity and option 5 is mislabeled as exit and should be tethering

i thought i saw something on here saying to do a command to cancel all automatic over the air updates or something like that grdlock do you recall seeing something like that poseted?? not on this thred but another one...anyways was wondering if i really had to worry about my phone trying to do an automatic ota update by itself? possible?

ota updates are disabled if you're running my rom by default

...and are you sure you entered the correct zip code in beautiful widgets? ;)

I just tested out the tethering for the droid eris and am pleasantly surprised.

in other threads many said there was a hardware limitation of one device only; however, i just had three devices connected to my phone while i surfed the internet on it as well, all three loading the page CNN.com at the same time.

Devices were:
iPod touch
HP Mini 311
Apple Macbook

Yes the phone did slow to a crawl at a point, but im just saying as proof of concept. Maybe after we get around to overclocking it this can do some major work.

EDIT:
After disconnecting, the tethering app did not respond. I taxed the heck out of my phone. Im lookin at a hardboot here

Ok so couple comments and questions.....love the Rom grd...sometimes it locks on my home screen and won't let me slide left or right and I have to lock phone and unlock to get it to work...little slow loading sometimes...but other than that its awesome good job!!!! GRD u were saying the teathering was included in the official Rom correct? How do I set this up buddy? :) thx for the help

Have no idea why I can't get this to work... Cant get passed the push recovery.img because "no such file or directory" I'm on a mac, and my sdk is up to date.. tried mounting and unmounting.. not sure what I'm doing wrong...

It's not included on the ROM, but the back-end stuff you need is included.

http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_2_0-pre8.apk

Download that, and install it using ASTRO or another file manager.

Not sure why yours would be locking up... haven't heard of that from anyone else.

If this one works, it's a complete surprise to me.

This is for the Nexus One.

I'd only use this one:

http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_1_70-pre2_htc.apk

Have you put the recovery.img and other file in your /tools/ directory inside your SDK program folder?

so it goes something like android-sdk-osx/tools

....

open up your android-sdk-mac or android-sdk-osx folder (or whatever it's called). See your tools folder? You need to drag recovery.img and the flash_image or whatever it's called INTO that tools folder.

Now open up Terminal.

type cd (do not push enter, just cd, and space bar)
now literally DRAG the tools folder into the Terminal window. Then press enter.

In other words, you're telling the computer cd (change directory to) Tools folder.

Now, look at your phone. Make sure that you're on Charge Only, not Disk Drive. Pull down your Notifications bar and make sure it says Charge Only. if it says Disk Drive, touch it, and change it to Charge Only.

Then every command in the tutorial on page 1... INSTEAD of 'adb.......' you're going to type './adb..........'.

In other words, put a ./ in front of every 'adb' command that is there.

You should be golden after that.

It works perfectly fine on our phones. That's the one I've been having people install. The only issue with it is you need a working ifconfig in your /bin directory, which some other roms don't have. If they're running my rom there's already a symlink in the proper place, and it should work just fine.
