Root GUIDE: From stock 1.5 to the latest root 2.1

Well, I didn't reflash my phone. I manufactured an update for my phone to update all necessary stuff.

The main thing about the new rom is the google login bug is fixed. It has a newer kernel, and some other minor stuff.

Thank you Grd for your batch files and instructions.
Worked flawlessly for going to 2.1 ota root from 1.5

I installed the launcher2/live wallpapers extras..
How do I remove them after I realized I love sense too much...

so any and all live wallpapers disable sensi ui? any suggestions on live wall papers i should download from the market? that is where we have to get them correct? also...getting ready to flash the new rom..(have not yet flashed one..have just rooted and recovery) any pointers going into this?

I like the Bezier wallpaper in the Market.

As for the backup, reboot your phone into recovery mode (turn it off, hold VolUp and power on). Go to backup/restore, and select Nand backup. It'll make a full backup of your entire phone incase you ever screw something up or flash a new rom and want to go back, you can restore it.

If you use SenseUI you can't use live wallpapers, and you definitely can't use Launcher2, since Launcher2 is a home replacement.

And yes, it's always a good idea to create a backup before flashing anything new.

You have to use the command prompt and type in commands.

To be honest, if you don't know what that means then you're probably better off just leaving them installed, as you can mess stuff up in the shell.

Either that or join the IRC chatroom (see the sticky thread from acidbath at the top of the forum for how to do that) and have someone in there guide you through the process of removing them manually.

No no, once you install eris21official-root it'll wipe everything you've done. You'll need to re-do that patch afterwards.

No, you only need to install eris21official-root once. the launcherlwp or whatever file is just a patch. Don't wipe anything like you would when flashing a full rom, just flash it.
