Root [Merit] [ROOT] ZTE z990g Merit (An avail variant?)

Remount successful but adb push su /system/xbin/ su cannot stat su no such file

After this I found I had to cd c:/program files/android/android-sdk
Then do... adb push su c:/program files/android/android-sdk/tools/su
Then download super user before root completes just hope to help someone
O and he never said about dnwld adb tools before you start so you can put the file in the tools folder

Thanks alot for that input it worked out great

if running XP, setup your "adb" folder or your "abd tools" folder [whatever it's name on your end] here:

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\

so it should be like so

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Username\adb

when you open command prompt on your machine you will not have to change into any directory, you can just run your adb commands right from the console without any extra steps

command prompt opens directly into your Username, so if the adb folder is there you don't have to do any "cd" or anything else.

and for me i just placed a copy of my "su" file into my username folder and another copy into my "adb" folder [not sure which one it pulls from] and all i had to do was run the commands just as they were posted with nothing extra and was rooted in less than 3 or 4 minutes...

what's so hard about that?

i'm about ready to give up on android and get an iphone i have tried to root 10 times and can always get to adb push and it always says cant find file, have factory reset each time to start from fresh, tried everything i can think of,, my comp doesnt give me the option to open command prop in this directory by holding shift and right clicking. i have even put the file in several places on my comp in hopes it would find it, still nothing...i have the file in sdk platform tools as well as my computer, doc and settings ,me ,.android... all I want is more storage for apps, i love the phone but the small internal memory is a joke, i purchased a 32gb sd card thinking i would have plenty of room..and if i can get root i should.

If tge shift cpick doesnt work then open the command prompt and change directories to the appropriate directory using the cd command

ok I think i gained root,, now what do i need to delete some factory apps and move some to the sd card...thank you, thank you, thank you. OK root checker said i do have root... want to know what you suggest to use to remove system apps and move other apps to sd card....

There are lists in threads here on the site for your model, that you can go with, but, don't get too carried away with deleting apps. If you're new to rooting, apps are sometimes linked to others. Best to freeze first, then delete.
Titanium Backup is very helpful.

thanks,, i just want to get rid of twitter, orkut, that i dont use for now,, i have read.. what apps to defiantly not remove,, just trying to free up a little space,, my main thing is being able to put apps on the sd card

Titanium Backup, need pro key, is what I use. I backup the app, uninstall and if the phone is OK without it, I go with it. If it's a mistake, I just reinstall from TB. TB will move pretty much anything to SD. You need to convert a few to user apps first tho. The other way is using Link2SD. But, TB is a life-saver.

This is my very first smart phone, so idk if i'm even doing this right, but when i tried to dowload the zip, it just keeps failing. :( what am i doing wrong? PLEASE help!

Okay this is really frustrating. I've been trying to root my phone for over 24 hours now. I got to the command prompt, but idk what to type in from there.

A video? Why not just follow the steps given in this forum? One point to remember- DON'T USE ROM MANAGER. It will brick your phone for sure.
Edit- OK, I just saw another thread in this forum and figured out why. Sorry, I didn't know the info you were using was from 2 different sources, I apologize if I offended anybody. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We are here to help each other.

I used the institutions in this thread: androidforums.com/avail-all-things-root/576067-complete-zte-merit-guide-root-flash-recovery-install-new-rom-links.html . It has links to the file you need if you read through the whole thread you'll find that others have had the same problems & how they figured them out.

I used link to SD & have been happy with it. I also use root uninstall & ES file explorer. This is the way I have went from a phone I hated to one I really enjoy.

It is something that should never be necessary. I believe when you buy something it is yours to do with as you want. A phone with a locked root & junk apps that you can't remove is like buying a new car only to find out you don't get the keys & the trunk has been filled with concert.

I rooted my phone, got the new OS on it and everything works great EXCEPT now I can't receive any multimedia messages, any suggestions?
