Root Low to no data connection on EVO 4g on boost mobile!

Hey guys I'll skip the noobie stuff and get straight to my issue... I have an EVO 4g that was flashed to boost mobile that worked fine...had all services until I flashed a new rom "EVOlvedROM Directors Cut". My data connection is slow 1x and then fades to error 67 code:(...I haven't tried to fix the issue for fear of fouling something up, does anyone know the fix to this problem? Wifi works fine, all other services work fine.

error 67 is failing to auth your 3G. Did you flash the phone yourself (I ask because you need info from the donor phone to fix this issue)?
 
Flash it with this ROM:

[ROM][STOCK][Rooted] 4.53.651.1 - Odexed & De-Odexed - xda-developers

it's the latest stock gingerbread ROM. Make sure before you flash you delete the data under recovery mode and clear the dalvik cache. It may or may not solve your issue. I am not familiar with the ROM you flashed to cause the problem. If the problem persists unfortunately you need to have your phone flashed again. Your profile 0 and/or profile 1 items may have been set back to sprint original settings. These are items the phone uses to determine what your username and password is with your carrier. It is used to authenticate 3G data service. Also you want to avoid ever using the stock sprint apps especially the stock wifi router and voicemail to text app. Those can also cause error 67 messages.
 
Ok, I will try this and let you know if it works. The company that originally flashed the phone was contacted last night, I am hoping they will shed some light on the fix. I want to give them the opportunity to resolve the issue since, they say, its a common problem with flashed phones that get new roms.
 
you can't be authenticated and not have internet unless there is an outage in your area. If this happened right after a flash like the OP then obviously your flash messed something up. If it just happened out of the blue there may be an outage. you can try pressing ##DATA#, going into edit mode, menu, and reset. Your phone will restart and you will activate OTA again. Update your PRL as well after the OTA update.
 
Yeah it worked for me! I had 1x to none data so I re-flashed rom ruu and re-wrote nv items, nam(s), and profiles [0,1], then I reset the ota and updated the prl. Now its working at blazing 3g speeds. Thanks to armeN0317 what he said made complete sense and fixed my issue. cheers :D
 
I have an HTC Shift (Sprint) that has been reprovisioned to Page Plus. I did not do it myself. I would like to find out how to change the internet from vision sprintpc to the verizon addy and what ip and etc. to use plus port. I have not been able to access internet except thru wifi, can't receive or send and mms. I changed the mmsc to the verizion and notice some small changes that are cool. But need to get rid of sprint.

I am having the same problem, I have a evo 4g, no access to workshop but I have qpst, qxdm and dfs. I have call and text and mms and data but is sooo slow, before i changed my number it was way faster, i bought it flashed and i reflashed myself when i changed my number. donor phone is a rant which should have evdo speeds. I followed the link and put the 4.54.651.1 odexed(not sure the difference from deodexed) and before that i cleared the everything in clockwork including cache and dalvik. I cant find 1192 and 1194 on the rant but i found the aaa on the rant as a string and the ha should be secret...please help and also after i upload the rom ##3282# menu does not show up and field trial no longer shows me exact what im running (1xrtt or evdo)
 
I cannot take credit for this fix (worked for me anyway). I flashed my HTC evo 4g to boost mobile with a bad esn. It was remotely flashed and it worked great except my web browsing would go off after about 15-20 min. I'd get a "data call failure - error code 67. cannot establish data connection". I would go to airplane mode, check it, then uncheck and i'd get my internet back for another 10-15 min. It got VERY annoying. I tried all the "update profile" and "update PRL", blah, blah, blah. I came across a post a couple of days ago. It said to go into qpst (which I had on my pc since it was flashed remotely). It said under the tab "security" (i believe). Its the tab with your profiles in it (profile 0, profile 1). The post read to edit profile 0 and if profile 0 had the characters "A000000" in the box to the right, to UNCHECK the "enable" box to the left as this was no good. After I did this, I clicked "write to phone". After rebooting I saw later down on the post to also do a ##3282# click edit enter "000000" go into EVDO and on the second item down (not the DDTM)...if it says "automatic" to change the option to "CDMA only". your phone reboots.

Since then, I've had NO error code 67's and my web is working great! I can listen to pandora without it losing connection after 5-10 minutes! :)
 
@alucard9911 I have almost the same exact problem as you had, except i got someone to flash my phone for me it was working fine till about mid November and its driving me nuts now. where did you see the post you said you came across? im going to try to follow the instructions myself which is scary! :eek:
 
@Sandraoid - in all honesty, I do not remember the website I saw that post in. At that time, I was going to about 5-6 websites daily trying to find a fix. Mine was remotely flashed (had someone do online). My fix was not hard to do at all :) But you will need qpst on your PC for sure. Once downloaded (qpst), your phone must be on "charge only" w/the usb plugged in to y our pc. Next, punch in ##3424# on your phone. Next open qpst and choose "program". qpst will "read" your phone info. There will be several tabs at the top. I believe its the security tab (you can click each tab until you find the one with your profiles in it.... profile 0, profile 1). Highlight profile 0 and click "edit". If you see anything resembling "A000000" to the right at the top, UNcheck the "enable" box to the left of those characters. click "done" then click "write to phone". Your phone will reboot itself. Once your phone FULLY reboots itself (do NOT disconnect from pc before its fully rebooted, i did and lost all my services....freaked me out! redid the previous steps and left it plugged in and all was fine) remove from pc. Next, punch in ##3282# on your phone and enter "000000" and choose "edit mode". go into your EVDO settings and you should see "DDTM" and "Preferred mode". choose "preferred mode" and choose "CDMA only". You will be asked to reboot your phone or your phone will reboot in 10 seconds automatically. After your phone reboots you should be good to go.

you need to copy and old version of the EPST.apk for the ##commands to work. you also need to find that 1192 and 1194 or the flash will not be complete.
 
allucard...it didnt really helped me in my case... i did your steps but my 3g still drops on about 10 min of usage running on cm7 rom...

get an error message when i try to write to phone about NV file being read only

no reboot

the evdo setting simply knocks my 3G data down to 1X
 
What a fix! My 3g is blazing fast again...for now! Let's see how long it last, lol.;) I love you guys, your knowledge is golden...
 
It looks like the Rant might be useless since it doesn't have NV item 1192 and 1194. Unless you can edit the stock ones to match what the NV items SHOULD look like.

Can anyone post up their NV items so I can see what they are SUPPOSE to be?
 
For some reason my text messages come in a little late. Also sometimes when i am calling someone it goes straight to some operator saying some error thing. Another problem is my phone rings late and i do not have enough time to pick up.

Is the problem that i did not convert it correctly from boost mobile to sprint?????

My evo 4G is on BoostMobile and I was stuck 1x what I did to fix this ,I edit CDMA by going to phone and [##3282#] and go to [Edit Mode] and enter your MSL Code [ if you don't kown it download the [MSL Reader] on the market for free] and enter 6 digit code and go to [EVDO] and then go to [Preferred Mode] and change it to [Automatic] press the [back arrow] and press [manu] and press [Commit Modification] and reboot your phone, and that's how it worked for me.My evo was on CDMA Only I was stuck 1x then I change it to Automatic now I have 3G. Thats' how I got my evo back from 1x to 3G.But some say to change it to CDMA Only but this work for me. I hop this helps you.:smokingsomb:This should work with any rom that lets you edit your MSL.
