Help Confusion on going to ICS and back

Im still waiting for the OTA but if it doesn't come im going to use the .232 leak. However im afraid of going back to .905 and losing all my texts, contacts, app data, ect. Is there a way to do this?

There's an app called MyBackUp in the market that I've used before. It did a decent job of backing up and restoring my texts and app data.

I've always done my contacts through Gmail sync so resetting the phone is never an issue, a quick sync with my gmail account and my phonebook comes back.

While you shouldn't lose any data flashing from .905 to .232 going back to .905 to flash the OTA may be another story.
You should always assume your going to lose your data when you flash.
Also many people including myself have had problems restoring system data after flashing ICS, so you may just want to wait for the OTA.

You should always do a backup before you go between OSs. But read this link, first post. A way to go back to 905 and keep your data.

Another thing to think about - you can use apps by Ritesh Sahu to back up SMS and call logs (not contacts, but those are automatically backed up to your Google Account unless you disable it) so you should be safe there.
