Root [Boost Mobile] Need tips for ninja morph

SelfElevated2

Android Expert
Ok so I spent the entire night last night trying to modify icon colors, and at times the icons themselves. Using ninja morph I extracted framework res.apk and went into the drawables, changed lots of color.. And after finishing the project and rebooting absolutely nothing changed. I didn't zip align because when I did and rebooted every app on the phone kept force closing, I had to restore a Nandroid

Anyway how do I get this crap to work? Also why are the icons in drawable sometimes don't look like the right icons on the rom?

Looking for replies only from people that have worked with this type of thing

Not sure with ninja morph but I used winrar ,opened the app apk. Change colors then put back in winrar.

Ihear ninja morph causes issues with a lot of people and that you shoukd just use uot kitchen. I know its not the answer your lookin for but there ya go lol

Good suggestion mhollowway ..ill try that.

And unknown, i used to use uot but it won't take shins heavily modified system files. Plus it only does so much. Manualy changing the framework icons and putting them back allows you to do much more.

Thanks for the tip unknown but you shouldn't trust rom toolbox to do things with your system files. .I only use it for font, and boot animation. That's risky enough. I have tried the other options, and didn't work. I say that because rom toolbox and rom manager both have plenty of bricking history. I mean technically any type of playing in system files can brick you if not careful and doing research first. But that is low level stuff anyway. . It only allows you to use what they have to offer. .what I am trying to accomplish is...

Take frame work files out of the system and put them on the laptop. Use what ever icons I want in gimp PNG modifyer, change the colors and add text using photo shop.rename them to the correct file names, convert them back to PNG file type. Put them back in framework files in the correct place. And put in the new framework.Res.apk file.

I've accomplished all that but other system apps force close when applied.

Ninja morph was designed by a senior developer to replace and rename files correctly so I tried it but I must be doing something wrong. That's what this is about

Hey, SelfElevated.

If you can pull the APK's from your phone, install 7Zip on your PC. Unzip the files, go to Drawable-HDPI and edit them in photoshop. then put them back in the archive, put on your phone, reboot. Its how I did it.

Funny I just found a video on YouTube suggesting that.I'm in the middle of it now. Thanks

Well I knew there was a way to use it as I found a thread by sterickson on xda. But it lacked detail. That's why I made the post. Thanks for letting me know what to do
