Ah, home again. Nice to see my Tasker profiles kick in automatically and set up my phone for home use.

Love that app!
 
Hi everyone! Just finished cleaning up from my sister in law's birthday dinner. Now sitting down to catch up on games and maybe do a little updating for my friend's website. Then have to pack an overnight bag cause we are going to Six Flags tomorrow and staying overnight so I don't have to drive home afterwards.

Is it really that great? ....it's a bit pricey for a management app. But it gets rave reviews, so I almost not the bullet and got it.

I have profiles to turn off my unlock code when at home, turn up the brightness when charging, turn up the volume whenever Toma calls and a special one to handle receiving a 911 message from Toma that will make the phone go into hyper-spasms until I read the text message (and also tells her I've received the text message on my phone).

Once I start back at work I'll have another profile that will text Toma to let her know I've left.

My understanding is that it works nicely with NFC allowing you to set up profiles that will allow you to change the phones configuration when you sit are your desk, plug it in to the car etc.

I've not even touched the surface of it yet. I'm working on a classic one folk have mentioned before that takes a picture of anyone who fails to unlock my S3 and emails me the picture and location.

The downside of Tasker is its UI. It is however wicked powerful.
 
Anyone else notice the GPS icon popping up while the phone is idle? I will see this when I wake the phone before I unlock the screen, the GPS icon is on. I am not romed or anything. Just rooted.

Well DC and MD go back to school today but I think VA isn't for another week. It'll be nice to have those kids off the streets and in class. :p

Great. finishing up breakfast for the boys :egg:, Working on waking them all up ... (Love doing that).... Just another lonely day in paradise. Mr P'Lin is still gone until Weds. Hopefully payroll goes well.

On a lighter note, I am looking forward to downloading Tasker:willy:. I think it will be fun to play with !

That's exactly what I hear. Makes me nervous buying it for that reason. But the reviews say, if you can figure it out it's awesome. So I will give it a whirl.

I downloaded it last night. It seems complex but then again I'm simple minded.

Yep, it is pretty pricey. There's a user here, UncleMike, who's a wizz with it so if you need any support, shoot him a PM.
He started a thread a long while back in the Apps forum (or maybe it's the Android Lounge?). If you search for it, there's loads of tips on different profiles.
