Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Morning everyone!
Had a great time at the friend's Phd party last night. We lent her our massive "Poloroid" (well it's actually not a Poloroid) camera so everyone could take shots and right down on a little card. We did the same thing for our wedding. Really wanted to rent a photo booth (ya know, the ones in the mall) but it was way too expensive. This way we still got some great candid shots of everyone and a little message from them.
Someone ended up taking a photo of the meat on the grill. I just had to write something for it. And no, I'm not going to say what I wrote. ;):D

Morning y'all.

Morning dread, sounds like you had fun.:D

For post 2k, I want to say thank you.

I have been through a lot since I signed up for these forums.

I have been married, had a son, had a car stolen (which we got back thankfully), weathered a couple family crises and I am still kicking. I even turned 30 this year. All in all, it's been a great 2+ years here.

So thank you all, even those who don't read this but have crossed my path, thank you very much for enriching my life.

Yours,

jmar

The cake. Ugh.

I could have swore that I was told the guys were wearing camo shorts and camo shirts with the sleeves cut off. I was wrong or they changed their mind? It was camo pants with black dress shirts. I do understand they didn't have a lot of money to spend on this whole thing and they made the best with what they could. A side from the cake. I personally think weddings are overrated and quick little ceremonies are better and just use the money for more important things.

My niece, however, wore a traditional weeding dress and she looked beautiful. I just really wish that day didn't happen. I want so much better for her.

We had a person drop out of the Phandroid Fantasy Football league. Anyone in here interested in joining? Draft was supposed to be in ~40 minutes but might get postponed.

Hey all. Thought I would check in :)

Considered yourself checked in AJ.

Slow Sunday around here today so I guess I should head outside and do some yard work. The good news is that I got up early for a nice bike ride in Arches National Park with my step daughter (who kicks my butt) so I don't have to worry about working out anymore today.

Yes, that's a Galaxy Nexus picture.

Oh. While at the wedding I saw someone still using a Samsung Juke and apparently overalls with one strap off are still in style. And the guy that says "Yarp" from hot fuzz was there.

Are you ready for another tax? The FCC is considering taxing those with broadband internet to fund the Connect America Fund.

FCC eyes tax on Internet service - The Hill's Hillicon Valley

Not to get TOO awfully political here, and I'll try not to get out of bounds or start a war... but I am about FED UP with paying for someone else's cell phones and service, and their internet service, along with everything else SOME PEOPLE get for "free". Now they have to have BROADBAND service too???

Nobody paid for MY stuff after my surgeries when I was broke and in debt.
Nobody offered to tax everyone else to help ME out for the YEARS it took to climb out of that hole. And I came out of it just fine.

Nobody has a Constitutional RIGHT to broadband, or even Internet for that matter. We were a thriving nation for some 220 years without Internet and broadband. People CAN survive without it.

I'm not envious of others who get "free" stuff I don't. I'm tired of PAYING for the "free" stuff THEY get... especially when it's not my choice to pay for it.

"Scuse me, folks, for telling you how I really feel about it. You'll find that I don't mince words well in matters such as this.

/end rant

By and large I agree with you Chief. My one issue is with companies who use the Internet as their only form of communication.

My mum us still in the UK and doesn't have any Internet access what so ever. There are times when she's had to call me in the US to do something for her because there was no other way to perform the act in question.

Rachel, I understand your point: my parents have never owned a PC and are genuinely stuck in the 20th Century in that regard. I do, however, get tasked with searching for something or ordering some needed item from time to time.

But that's generally more a matter of convenience than necessity.

EDIT: Sorry folks, I kinda meant to START a discussion... not END it! An HOUR without a post? :(

BTW, Obama 2016 is worth watching, saw it today.

I was going to go watch a movie today and saw that listed. Not knowing what it was I went to youtube to check it out. Once I realized what it was my mouth was hanging open! I couldn't believe that movie WAS ALLOWED to be made let alone SHOWN across the country in theaters. I only have one word for it...BRILLIANT :)

And Chief, I'm not sue if you are aware of the statistic...1 in 3 is receiving free handouts from the government. I think that is not including medicare/medicaid?
