Root [Q] On 2.3.6 FD11, Should I update?

i have a Sprint Samsung Transform Ultra (rooted, with CWM), running 2.3.6, there is an update avaliable (FG11). Should I update? If so, via the normal means, or is there a cwm flashable zip?

no if you update you will loose root

Found a way to update and still have root, will post a guide when I get out of work in the morning

ok, since i was an update behind, but already rooted with CWM, i went back completely to stock with Loota's SPRINTSTOCK.zip (which is a zipped up CWM backup), then i did the OTA Update, then i flashed CWM from this thread via odin (making sure to pull the battery after flash so i could boot into recovery), booted into cwmr, flashed tu_root_ - Minus (because it has the fix to keep cwmr as well), didn't like the outdated su binary so i flashed this one, which is also a little outdated, but not as bad as the other one.

edit: i dunno if this has already been covered anywhere, but that's what i did to get it to work

there is a new update other then the 8/1? So this is their 3rd version of 2.3.6 ota? When has this update come out and whats different?

I dunno when it came out, 8/1 sounds about right though... friend borked his after I previously rooted it, these were just the steps I took to get it updated and rooted with cwmr

No, the 8/1 update is the latest; its letter/number designation is FG11 for Sprint, FF27 for Boost.

edit: i dunno if this has already been covered anywhere, but that's what i did to get it to work

Check my post titled [BACKUP] Sprint FG11 stock rooted+. much the same process I used to make that image. I will be updating the thread or creating a new one with both the instructions for others to make their own, and a copy of the backup itself for those who are less patient.
