Newbie
Hey well i got this one Htc evo 3D and it looks rooted and bricked,I got it for 20 bucks because i though i could un brick it but it looks like no luck.I need help.I really don't know whats worng with it.It won't boot up and i can't get in recovery :(.Help me!!!!! and the pc won't get it.

Oh man this problem might be beyond my abilities then. What can you do? Does the phone turn on at all? If not is it possible the battery is dead?

Did the old owner give any information on what happened? How they bricked it? Was he running the juopunutbear s-off software? I ran that and they told me I hit the deep sleep... The phone wouldn't do anything. Not even a charge light. Basically they said plug it into the wall for 8 hrs and don't touch it. Then I had to battery pull and it booted up again. I'm just running through any scenario I can think of.

It does nothing but light this little very red dim light.:/ He did not he just said that it won't change and that made me think it was brick. Thanks for the feed back though.

With it not charging it could possibly be the s-off problem I mentioned. Plug your phone into the wall. Leaves it alone for the night. I messaged someone who knows tons about this phone and I am still researching. If you don't get any help tonight, when you wake up tomorrow do a battery pull and try restarting again.

i think htis is well worth a shot. if it doesnt work, all it cost you was some time.

if it will not charge becasue it has a mal-functioning rom on it,then you may need to cahrge the battery with an external charger,or it may even simply have a bad battery.

i would take the phone to a sprint store. see if they will stick a known good battery into the phone and then see if it will boot to hboot,or boot normally. then see if they can stick your battery into a display phone and see if it takes a cahrge.

if a good battery or the sleep trick gets you into hboot,id say theres a pretty good change we can recover the phone :)

Hey guys Sorry for the waitting,I've been at school,The Evo Didn't not wake after two day of good charge.I made a video.

That's a bummer. The fact that there is a light at all leads me to believe that it isn't perma bricked. From what I understand if you are bricked there is no response from the phone at all.
What's the video? Is there a link?

MrEvo,

I don't really have anymore suggestions. I have pretty much mentioned the only possible solutions I can think of.

Read this about sending back to the manufacturer to fix a hard bricked phone. I know you bought this phone second hand so I am not sure if this option is even viable for you or not.

Also try plugging the phone into your computer and see if windows recognizes it. I just read some things where people had similar problems.

If windows does recognize the device:
Do you have htc sync and sdk mini on your computer? If not get them from the complete newbies guide and set them up per the instructions. Then open command prompt and type
Code:
cd c:\sdk-tools
then type or copy/paste
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
See if this gets you to fastboot... If so you're good to go... If not.... well, i just don't know!

Also check out this unbricking guide and see if there is anything useful there!
