Bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 and I soft bricked it already! HELP PLEASE!!

Ok so I bought the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 for AT&T. The guy I bought it from already had it tricked out. It was rooted running a rom (I don't know which one) , it has CWMR Touch v4.4.0.4 on it with the Siyah Kernal.
So I thought I would be cool and just wipe it in Rexovery mode to get all of his poo off so I could start fresh on the Rom. I wiped data, cache , format system, and Dalvik cache.
I then rebooted. Well it just stays on the Siyah Kernal Pic and wont go any further.... So I am lost. Good news is I can still get into CWMR.
Sooo ai figure there is still hope to flash an ICS Rom and still make this thing fly. Could someone help me with this? I really don't seem to be having any luck. Is there possibly a package out there for this phone that makes it stock? However I would still like to root it amd put CWMR on it though. Here are some pics of the system as I can see it.

Just to be clear the Galaxy S2 for AT&T is the SGH-i777. The SGH-i9100 is the international model and you should NOT use any firmware other than that specifically for the i777. I know the splash screen says i9100 but that's just a quirk of the flash counter (and that's easy enough to get rid of, but first thing's first.)

Without knowing the specific files used to flash your phone, I'd recommend flashing something like CM9 that will replace the existing kernel. You can get the stable build for the i777 here.

Then it's just a matter of copying the zip file to your sd card and flashing like any other rom.

1st off THANK YOU for responding.
right before I read this I found out that you are correct. I indeed have the i777. I know this because when I took the battery out it said i777.

So I feel stupid :smokingsomb:

SO this CM9 isnt that an ICS ROM? I hope. I am not ready for Jelly Bean lol.
Next is this like any other phone? You go in CWMR Wipe Data, wipe cache, Wipe Dalvik, and the Format System.... And once thats all done you simply flash .zip from the SD Card?

Or is there some step I am missing?

Again thanks for all of your help.

Well What outlined in the previous post failed.
it gave me this when trying to flash CM9

So how do you properly Flash on this phone....

Yep, CM9 is ICS 4.04. And yes, that's the procedure for flashing.

The Status 7 error could mean a couple of things. At the simplest level it meant the zip file is corrupt. Try re-downloading it and recopying it to your sd card.

It could also mean that it isn't fond of your kernel or recovery version. You could try different kernel/recovery combos (flashed through Odin) or take it completely back to stock and start over (usually the safest method.)

Yes I would LOVE TO take it back Stock. Is Stock ICS?
REally anything is better than not booting. LOL

Sorry I am just panicking a lil.
I will review this ODIN Stock method and see if I can get it to work.
Please Stand by. LOL I need help :o

Thanks so much for what you have already done.

No, this "stock" is UCKK6 (Gingerbread 2.3.6) but if you get it that far, you can either then got for the official AT&T ICS update (yuk) or we can help you get a custom rom working.

Personally, I like ShoStock2 (except for their ugly boot animation which I replaced) for ICS, but YMMV. We'll cross those chickens when we come to them.

Awesome...... did I say thanks yet! Thanks!! Still reviewing the odin thingy.

The status 7 error is common.

Without getting into any complicated details, this is why it happens:

When trying trying to install CM9, there is a process that checks if the phone is indeed an i777 by checking a specific file in the phones file directory (build.prop). If there is a mismatch, then the status 7 error appears and installation is aborted.

One of the easier ways to get past that is to enter recovery, flash a rom based on i777 firmware (Gingerbread or ICS), reboot to recovery, then flash CM9.

A list of i777 roms include: Semi v16c, Unoriginal, and UnNamed.

Is there a direct download link for the Drivers?

I hate those pages that say they have the drivers and have a million download buttons and you can never figure out where the correct one is. UGHH

Alrighty Then.... That WORKED!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!

Not that Going back stock the ODIN way would have been bad... This sounded quicker so I gave it a Go.

Also BIG thanks to you Lunatic59. I was gunna go down the ODIN path but this worked too. I now have CM9 on the Phone. it looks nice. It didnt ask me to sign up my Gmail account strange... Well you said you like ShoStock2. So is that better than CM9?
What are the pros and Cons?

And LoafPincher.... This little tricky way of cheating was Stellar Awesome... Thankyou!!!

so how do I get rid of the Triangle on the Boot splash... I saw somewhere it was an app that got rid of it? I think. I cant find that thread again,
