Hi all,

For thous that want's to know more about the ZTE V970, I have made a review of the ZTE V970: ZTE V970 Review (User review)

I have not had the phone for long, but will try to update it over time ;)

Questions are welcome.

I think I'm going to go for the V970. Just another few questions if you don't mind:

1) If you get a SMS text on the SIM2 number, can you reply from SIM1?
2) Have you tried GO SMS at all? I'm curious how third-party apps will handle dual-sim messaging.
3) How is battery life so far in your usual daily use?

Thanks

1) Yes you can.
2) In GO SMS you get two buttons: One for SIM1 and one for SIM2. That is the app supporting dual-sim

I got the files from my A750 and copied them to the A789 :)

Please note you are doing this on your, own at your own risk.

Hi There, Im new to this forum. Also have the lenovo a789 from etotalk with multilanguage. Very satisfied with it. BUt always looking for more info. Do u know any forums beside the russian one for more info firmwares tweaks etc.?

Found another one with flashing instructions h t t p ://info.itgroup.org.ua/2012/08/how-to-firmware-lenovo-a789-with-mod.html

ps batterylife is amazing 2 days on one charge easily

do you know a simple way to remove the etotalk animation in start up and shut down? It very annoying me! And where i can find the right USB driver for Windows 7? Thanks.
For all i confirm your positive test on A789, very good phone!

Windos driver can be found on the root of the phone in the map ΔΔPC together with ideatool (chinees version) which i cannot get to work but i think this have to do with the etotalk firmware. I also found an english version of ideatool but for me it has the same problem it keeps hanging in the connection screen. Have tried it ona windows xp computer

I was about to order the ZTE V970 with Etotalk but I came across this site which is about $50 cheaper once you factor in the delivery and optional extras (rooting/screen protector/silicone case in my case). I was wondering if anyone's used this site. It would be good to know it it's reputable.

MTK6577 ZTE V970 - Wholesale and Dropship From Chinese Wholesaler

And can you choose those extras (rooting/screen protector/silicone case in my case) on that site??

I guess you wont have any trouble because they accept Paypal payments...

I did a "live-chat" thingy with someone on the site and he said it comes with a case (not silicone, a hard case) and that rooting and screen protector will take it up to $200 which is still a lot better than Etotalk.

I thought Paypal would be a good safeguard too but I read recently there's a way of scamming around it. If the seller sends some rubbish and you sign for it, then he can demonstrate a delivery/receipt to Paypal. This complicates the process because Paypal will then insist you return the incorrect item (at your expense) before they refund. I don't know how true it is but I saw someone say this happened to them on another site and Paypal can be very inflexible if you look at the problems some people have had.

Might just go with Etotalk after all!

It is true that you have to return the item to get a refund, if it is "not as described". Your loss will be the return postage. I don't know if it is really a good scam, as you will get your money back, and the seller will loose all the money...

If the AMOLED screen is as nice as that of SGS2/S3 I would go for that! Much better than the LCD's.

I was going to place an order for the ZTE V970 but I just saw there's going to be some new releases coming up. The Blue Vivo looks interesting

Do I wait or is the V970 good enough? The front camera doesn't bother me and everything else seems good. I can't make my mind up!

Also seen the Acer Gallant is now on pre-order with Expanys at

Sorry if this has been asked before on this thread...but its at 31 pages... :)
Do dual sim phones have both sims on at the same time or do you have to reboot into the other sim?

The current range of Android dual sim phones have both sims on at the same time. Mostly dual standby, meaning that if one is in use the other will appear busy to the caller.

On a different note, I pulled the trigger on a Zopo ZP500. Thanks to The Solutor who mentioned the ZP100, I found the website for Zopo and picked the 500.

Same hardware, smaller (4") screen but a 2000 mAh battery upgrade is available for it and most importantly it's the only phone apart of the Alcatel Onetouch 918D discussed in this thread that can do Telstra NextG (HSDPA 850 MHz).

The 500 is replacing my aging 918D that served me well for nearly a year, but it is getting tired now and the hardware is really showing its age. Support for updates from Alcatel is pretty poor as well, only two updates since I bought the phone last year and it doesn't always work as it is pulling the update off Alcatel's servers.

Anyway, checked out the video reviews of the 500. Looks good, works fast, specs as promised and Zopomobile site offers a rooting service with the chinese apps removed for $9. For the grand total of $233 USD I'm getting the phone, screen protector, battery upgrade with new back cover to suit, rooted, all sent express to Australia.

If I was willing to wait, I could have preordered the 500+ which comes with dual core CPU (MT6577 I think), but what I'm getting for the price is miles above what I have now.

I am thinking of doing a small review when I get it. See how we go.
