Help Help with manually updating PRL on LG motion

krackhead

Newbie
Ok, so I am out of the service area and I just got the LG motion. It has not been activated yet. I'm unsure why this isn't working. I tried pressing *228 and it can't connect to update.

I guess I need to update the PRL manually in order to get this phone to work. I was previously using a kyocera domino on metro pcs and had no problems. Is it possible to update the PRL manually at this point with bluetooth so that the phone will work? Please help. Thanks.

I did activate the sim card. My phone is working now after calling metro PCS! I am outside the service area where I set up my phone in NY. I am in a different state.

What I learned today from metro pcs was how to get into the secret phone menu. You dial "##626*" and then it asks you for the password to the service menu which I actually have, but I'm unsure if this code is unique to each phone. The other settings were for my phone number and some other random number I had to type in with the NAM setting MIN and whatnot.

Thus, you can switch/upgrade your phone on metro pcs while being outside of the service area. At this point I'm not sure if I will get 1X or 3g, but this phone is great! It was a really good upgrade from my kyocera domino. I am still on the $40 plan btw. In the current state I am in, there is no plan that costs under $50. Awesome phone. I can't wait to learn how to use it.

Its not tthe same on all phones, usually it is based on meid number but all you have is an IMEI..... whiterabbit.org/android calculate section you enter IMEI....SPC=MSL

Yes it's the same for all metropcs phones. Just dial ##626* followed by 587846, which is the code.

yes those were both the 2 numbers they asked me to type and then I had to set the nam to my phone number as well and set a couple other options (min.)

In any case, when not connected to a internet hotspot the phone connects at 1x (which I believe is 2g speed.) I noticed it is decent with the hotspots though in that it automatically connects to each one. For example, I will walk into a starbucks and be connected to their hotspot within 1 second.

4g only works in limited areas anyway. If you travel outside the 500 miles worth of metro service towers in the U.S. you will be at 1X. You may even end up in that crummy verizon only area where you have to pay to make each call (I believe its 19 cents a minute.)

There is no way to manually update ur Prl. What u can try is reprogramming your phone. I Work for Metropcs so i'm truing to help as much as possible. Okay noe what you need to do is. Go to setting>phone info>phone status/number. From there you will need to write down your MDN, MIN.Once you have written that information down, go to your Dialer. Once in the Dialer you will enter ##626*. Then a second screen will pop up and ask you For a spc code. You will enter 587846. The next screen will show u where edit your MDN/ MIN. Despite the fact that you are not changing any information, you still need to delete it and re-enter it.PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND MAKE SURE U HAVE THE CORRECT INFO WRITTEN DOWN AND ENTER IT CORRECTLY. Once you enter it hit back and done and your device should power cycle. After tht try to make a call. Thats all i know to do.
