Yeah I probably should have done a nandroid backup yesterday prior to wiping everything but eh live and learn. I backed up all my pics/videos and my contacts and calendar are on gmail so i just have to dl apps again. extracting new system files now so hopefully this will be done soon and will have worked :)

yeah this has been pissin me off for a while. i wanted to do this when i bought the phone but read online there was no root at the time. spent 3 hours trying to do this last night and failed lol but failing led me to this forum where reading threads on here it seemed like everyone was friendly. winning lol. phones rebooting now.

I assume you are flashing MIkG?
That was my first,,,,very nice rom...ran it for 5 months or so.
After rom is done installing, let it settle for 10 minutes or so...go get a sandwhich or something.....then come back to it and play....

YESSSSSSSSS it worked. Yayy lol. Yeah I flashed MIkG rom. Looks cool. And thats exactly what I was planning on doing - getting some food. Spent almost 6 hours on this phone in the last 2 days so I'm happy its finally done. Now to figure out what I can do with the phone rooted besides use it as a hotspot and take screen shots lmao. So I downloaded an app to take screen shots from the play store. Installed it and tested it - good stuff. Now when I try to go back to the play store it tells me that the linked program is no longer installed on your phone. Any idea of what happened here? Now I'm running to get food lol.

with mikg, take screeshots by holding down the power button and briefly tapping the home button..takes some getting used to, but that how....you need no app for that...
What app did you try do download?

I downloaded an app to take screen shots lol. Didnt know the rom was able to do that. But now my play store wont open. Just restarted my phone now and still not working
 
Figured it out. Dont know why it happened but I just deleted the shortcut from the home screen and added a new one and now its working again. Nice. Time for bed myself. Thanks again for all your help Mike.

LOL I was confused myself haha. Dont mind me but everyone thank you for your help. Now my question is since I rooted the EVO I'm now getting voicemail messages by text - well not by text but when I click on the voicemail button to review the voicemail there is a text box which shows me what the persons message says. I know Sprint offers that option at $5 a month or something like that but I dont think I clicked the free trial to try it out. So I'm wondering do you automatically get that when rooted or did I start the free trial w/o realizing it :shruggs
 
Never mind. Ignore my question. I did a search on here and checked my settings and I did in fact start the free trial. The way the messages are transcribed onto the phone it's definitely not worth the $1.99 a month that they charge lol. I read some of these messages thinking WTH did I just read then listen to the message and am like Oh okay that makes sense now lol.

I know, right? it sucks!
I tried the free trial and when it transcribed to text, half of it was wrong.
I was/am better off just listening to the vm!:p

Definitely. The only benefit I see is if you cant listen to your messages ATM at least you can sorta see the point the caller was trying to make. And I say sorta cause who knows if the caller was really saying whats transcribed lol. :confused:
