Root Regaw Mod One Click Root

Being able to name your nand on the fly in recovery is killer! No more cryptic date/time codes that never fail to confuse me when bouncing between ROMs.

I'm loving that so darn much! Because I generally make a nandroid before I flash a new ROM. But after I flash a new ROM I would forget to rename my nandroid because I was busy playing with my shiny new ROM.

[ROOT] RegawMOD EVO 4G LTE Rooter | Updated 06.13.12
What it does:
Verifies Device and Battery Level (Needs to be charged to at least 40% before running)
Reboots to Bootloader and Gets Unlock Token
Sends Token to HTCdev.com
Retrieves Unlock_code.bin
Unlocks Bootloader
Flashes TWRP Recovery
Sends Superuser packages and busybox to device

Check the XDA thread for more info. This does NOT give you s-off. It will unlock your bootloader and install TeamWin's custom recovery. Once you do this, your bootloader will display "Unlocked." If you run the RUU it will say "Relocked."

I haven't tried it yet but might tomorrow.

I've tried both of the rooting .exe files in the above linked thread, but whenever I try to run the program, I keep getting an "fatal error" response/this program will now terminate.

I'm on the XDA forum with him now, because I posted the logs of the .NET Framework failure. They are:

OS Version = 6.1.7601, Platform 2, Service Pack 1
OS Description = Windows 7 - x64 Service Pack 1

Final Result: Installation failed with error code: (0x80070643), "Fatal error during installation. " (Elapsed time: 0 00:01:01).

I then tried these suggested fixes from Microsoft, but neither worked. The error still remains.

Well, I just finished rebooting after totally removing all .NET framework files, and damn! Same frickin' problem. Now I can't even re-install the .NET Framework files for the life of me. I even reran the msi fix, but that didn't help at all. I keep getting the "fatal error" message and the logs read as follows:

OS Version = 6.1.7601, Platform 2, Service Pack 1

I confess--I'm at wit's end here. If I can't get this fixed, I won't be able to root and apply TWRP 2.2 and a custom ROM.

Well, I've been at it for several hours, trying everything I can find to fix this issue. I've been completely unsuccessful. None of Microsoft's fixes have worked. Now I have NO .NET framework files installed on my PC after removing them and trying to re-install them. I keep getting the same aforementioned fatal error nags.

I don't know what else to do.

SUCCESS! Alleluiah!!! :congrats:

I was FINALLY able to install .NET Framework 4.0. After searching and searching (and searching), I found a post about a specific Windows KB update that was causing this error, so I uninstalled that update, rebooted my PC, and successfully installed the .NET Framework files.

Now I'm running the rooting .exe file.

I know I'm not an idiot when it comes to technology and all, but it sure is frustrating trying to figure out what is/was a Microsoft problem when Microsoft doesn't make fixing things that easy at all!

Could I unroot after using this? I am considering going back to unrooted so I can update my radios and pri and get ready for jellybean.

Or do I have to get to soff before I can have my phone look untampered?

If you get s-off, you can update your radio and pri firmware, no problem.

I have, it's not difficult.

Without s-off, you can still update your radio firmware.

The problem with unrooting and taking the update is that you won't use this root method to get back, and you may not see s-off again anytime soon.

And fwiw, you want to update your radio firmware to stay current. Will there be another firmware update when jb hits?

My Magic 8 Ball says, Ask again later.

Yes you certainly can. Anything you can do, you can undo pretty much. I would wait until the devs get their hands on jelly bean. If it is released as an ota update the devs will root it and put it up here or xda as a flashable Rom. They'll probably improve it too. As for prl and profile you can update those while rooted.

I've run into an issue with this. My LTEvo has the latest firmware upgrade. USB Debugging is enabled. Drivers are installed. .NET Framework is installed. But when I try running the rooter it says: "HT24VS403496 Connected - NOT A Sprint EVO 4G LTE!"

I'm absolutely certain the phone I'm plugging in is the HTC Evo 4G LTE. Is there anything I can do to root this?

Did you see this on his OP at xda?

I didn't copy the link. Maybe that will get you there quicker.

So I just used this method tonight and wow! So super easy and I am a noob to root. This is my first time and it went nice and easy. Still trying to understand everything but this is sweet! And hey.. Did anyone notice the camera starts now when you hold the shutter button! Rooting ftw!

To regaw. Thank you so very much. I have sent you a donation. This is awesome!

I'm a bit confused with my readings.
I've read this thread and the thread for
[http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...anda-s-htc-dev-ltevo-root-dummies-guide.html] Lazy Panda.

I still don't get what S-OFF really is anymore?
I had the old EVO 4G rooted with S-OFF all in one try with unrevoked.
I have flashed many ROMs and never radios (keeping my wimax keys).

For the LTEvo:
- Regaw Mod exe will give me root, recovery (and nandroid), and ability to flash ROMs (with kernels). So what does it not give me?

- Lazy Panda gives S-OFF but is it that important since I can flash ROMs which come with its own kernel? What does S-OFF give me? I believe Lazy Panda confuses me the most in terms of its importance. Is it just for flashing radios only?

TIA.

regaw basically uses the HTCdev method to unlock the bootloader, but doing this you will need to flash the kernels differently then when you have complete s-off. you will need to use this guide to flash the kernel separately: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/606748-how-install-kernels-h-boot-1-15-a.html.

so if you can get s-off with lazy panda then it will make your life that much easier.
