All versions of the firmware are currently rootable :D
If you are unsure which firmware to download, then you will likely want to use C. After you finish downloading, please be sure to verify that your file matches the MB size listed. Some ROMs are based on certain firmware; make sure to check out the ATR Sticky to find out what each firmware the ROM is based on.

Some notes about updating:
  • If you are rooted, flashing firmware will unroot you.
  • If you update via OTA while rooted, you may or may not remain rooted. (Yes I am also confused :thinking:, apparently some phones lose root and others don't.)
  • To get past root detection for OTA, there are some stock apps that must not be removed. I need help finding out which apps they are.
  • Unrooting via SuperSU app WILL NOT let you update via OTA if you already got an error related to being rooted. You must follow the "How To Flash Firmware" thread above^^


If you need firmware for another LG phone, don't hesitate to ask. I do need a serial number though, just PM it to me with the model number of the phone.

There was an original firmware B that existed before C. If you can help us acquire it, please contact me, sammyz.

Uploading to mediafire (please use first link though, my downloads are all used by a lot of people and I wouldn't be surprised if links failed....)

I wanted to make sure that each update is uploaded as well, just in case :D
The original firmware for the optimus M is long gone and missing :(
Missing firmware bothers me xD

Its not that hard, you just need a serial number and model number. Also there is a thread on xda that explains how to get it. Search on Google: download LG firmware.
 
hey sammyz anyway to get the 1.2ghz firmware? cause my lg motion is clocked @1.5ghz and when i use intensive task it locks up or reboots i want to see if the clock speed is the issue.

I need your serial number, there's a chance there are 2 different firmwares uploaded from LG.
 
well mine came with the 1.5ghz firmware but i guess its causing instability I'll try in the mean-while the root and under-clock method

Read the unbrick directions. Also filzip will open it up. But you're not supposed to extract it......unless you know what you're gonna do with a .wdb .wdh and a .DLL file
