I'm getting ready to flash cm-9.1.0-hercules.zip using TWRP.
1). Is this a "nightly"? Is this a good ROM for me to flash (stable)? Or is there a different one recommended?
2). What are google app packages?
3). Once and for all, is it always standard operating procedure to wipe data and cache (and what about Dalvic?) before flashing a new ROM?

Questions 2 and 3 have been nagging at me for awhile now, and I'm tired of being afraid to ask dumb questions when it's better that I know this stuff if I want to play around with custom ROMs, etc.
Thank you.

Oh. One more: How do I know if the list of available ROMs in Goo are made for ICS (4.0.4) or not?

Thanx again.

1 - I don't think thats a nightly. I think that is what they consider the last stable release. A nightly will usually say nightly in the file name. If you look in GooManager, under browse compatible roms > CM > Hercules you will find stable and nightly roms. I don't know if they are 4.0.3 or 0.4. I would assume 0.4.

2 - Gapps (Google Apps) are the apps for Google and the Play Store. For an ICS rom you need 20120429. For a Jelly Bean rom you need 20120726. Some custom roms already have Gapps in it.

3 - My standard when going to a different rom is to wipe everything. In TWRP I wipe data/factory reset, wipe system, wipe cache and dalvik. If you are upgrading the same rom with an update or nightly. you just need to wipe cache and dalvik.

That's where I downloaded the ROM from. I guess I will assume it will work. I guess I'm going to find out real quick, here.
Thanx Atmazzz

Me again. I flashed cm-9 no problem except there is no play store (therefore I can't get to titanium backup with all my apps).
I googled play store, found a download for it, but it says my device is incompatible.
How do I acquire the play store?
Thank you.

The Store comes with GAPPS my man - so go ahead grab them from Atmazzz's link and flash them in clockworkmod and you should be all set - the welcome window where you add an account should also appear :)
