Coolest feature you've found?

yes, it's set - i tried in Samsung Player and with google play music- doesn't mute it. i must be doing something wrong!

I've never been able to get it to work, either. It is great that they offer the feature, but I find it more of a novelty than anything, so the fact that I can't make it work doesn't bother me too much.

Try placing your 4 fingers or palm in the middle of the screen. Once you get an idea of where the pressure point is you should be able to mute with your whole hand over the screen.

Mine only works with the stock player and I have to press my palm to the screen. But it does work for me even if it in playing in the background. Just wish it worked with PlayerPro.

Why should I wear seat belts? I've been driving for years and I've never needed them. I even bumped into another car in a parking lot and I didn't need the seat belts. I hate the feeling of seat belts. They feel AWFUL and completely ruin the feeling of the car. Besides, my car has airbags...Probably not a troll. But this analogy pretty much perfectly parallels the argument against screen protectors, other than with the cost of being wrong, of course.

Honestly, I don't care if someone doesn't want to use a screen protector. But there are obviously people who read this forum who know nothing about their phone's screen and might actually believe people who say you don't need a screen protector. So that's why I counter those claims with the truth that many, many reasonably careful people have scratched their screens on accident.

I have seen a number of posts from you on this thread, in almost every one you seem to be annoyed/upset.

Calm down mate.

There you go. Was kind of tricky to take a screenshot while holding my finger over the text.

thank you very much for taking time to capture the screen shot. it works for me now. have a great day.

Is it just me or is the Tapatalk app broken in this thread? Seems to be showing many many likes on random posts that do not have likes

That's Jelly Bean, right? Are there any other new features you've discovered? :)

That is JB, indeed.

Features, not sure if all of these are new, have not used ICS in a few days:

- Settings > new layout
- Blocking Mode
- Motion unlock, not sure if it was present in ICS
- Animator duration scale under Develope Options
- Favourite Settings widget
- Favourite Apps widget
- Keypad widget
- Simple alarm clock widget

Installing DLI5 via ODIN is dead simple, so try if you want.

I don't know if this has been covered but wanted to share this tip I just came across. If you are tired of your S3 asking if you want to connect to WiFi, open your phone dialer and enter *#6335623# and a menu will open with options to turn that feature off.

Thanks to everyone who has participated in this thread, it's been one hell of a learning curve for all these cool features & finds.
As I can't really participate and add to the topic, I'll just have to express my gratitude. Oh! And bump it for future reference :D!

Thanks all :)

First off I think this is one of the best topics on this site so many thanks to all the contributors for making me love my S3 even more. So here is my bit for the pot. I have mine in a silicone case to prevent damage when in my uniform pocket. This mean that the on / off switch is a little awkward to use. However holding the home button will bring up the lock screen when the phone is in standby mode and the 'Screen off FX' App on the home screen will allow you to switch the phone off. This is fully customisable by the way, so I have it set to random with a blue and red icon. Its very cool give it a try, its free.

My case also makes the power button awkward to use so I also do the same as you do.

I found another feature I have not seen mentioned on this forum.

When you click on the apps shortcut and it brings up all your apps, if you click on the menu button there is an uninstall option. When you select uninstall it puts a little red minus (-) sign next to the apps that can be uninstalled. Then you can select the app you want to remove and it asks you to confirm or cancel. If you say ok, the program is uninstalled.

This is so much faster for me since I usually have to find the apps I want to remove in the apps tray and then go back out to settings and manage apps and remember which ones I wanted to remove.

I have a photographic memory but my memory card is FULL.
