Help digitizer replacement EVo 4G

rootchile

Newbie
Has anyone replaced the digitizer (front glass) themselves? I see the kit on ebay for $10 and videos on how to do. It doesn't look very complex.

Advice or things to look out for would be helpful.

Thanks

I fix phones for a living.

If you have handeled electronics before and are pretty confident about your self (hands shouldn't shake) then do it.

* Make sure you handle every thing carefully so you don't break the case or any other parts
* use gloves and protective plastic so your screen and new digitizer remain clean
* have a small box to put screws and other small parts
* Send me the broken digitizer as a souvenir )))

WHat is protective rubber? Like a rubber mat? Any suggestions on how to keep lint/dust from getting under the glass before installing? I had one before that the guy who repaired it had all kinds of stuff under the glass so it made it very hard to see the display.

Sorry, I mean protective plastic ... (I'm not a native english speaker)

Thanks ))

so far I found out that you only want to pry at the top of the glass to remove it...if you get anxious and pry from the sides you are likely to accidentally catch hold of the LCD as well...Then you break in and have to get that part too!
