i would never consider an iPhone, a locked down pile of crap with the same interface over and over and over again... no customization no NOTHING a nice MP3 player yes, but that it what my iPod is for, i don't need a phone to have the top of line MP3 player in it... i will never even think of the iphone over evo... BLEH
(goes to vomit)
Nah. The iPhone has always been tops in look and feel but way behind in capability. How many generations did it take to finally get 3G? GPS? Camera? Video? Copy and paste? I still can't run more than one thing at once unless it's an Apple app. I still can't install what I want without cracking the protection and breaking the law. I still have to install that POS iTunes on my computer.
Like I said before: the iPhone is great for people not already used to smart phones. It is a huge jump up from a feature phone and the lockdown translates into less options and greater simplicity for non-techies. But people for whom a pocket computer doesn't just mean a few games and a browser tend to feel a little stifled when using one. I have a 32GB Touch (damaged the LCD just this weekend) and the thought of that being my daily phone makes me shudder.
This is something that I have yet to understand. Whats the big deal about doing data and voice at the same time. Can someone give me an example. The reason I ask, is because right now with my Sprint Hero and using pdanet, I am able to surf the net and talk on the phone if need be. But thats with the phone attached (via cable) to the laptop. If I am walking around looking at videos on my cell phone, i do not need to be on a call anyway. For others that may be a necessity.I have an iPhone 3GS now but I am really looking forward to the EVO but the one draw back about the EVO is that you can't talk on the phone and use the Data connection at the same time(see link below)...
Sprint's HTC EVO 4G Can't Handle Data And Voice Simultaneously
You actually just sound like a hater. Regardless of how long it took to get where it is, outside of multitasking it is a very capable smartphone especially with Agendus and Docs To Go. Two programs right there are pure business oriented apps. As much as I would never buy one, it still is quite capable.
rumour of the iphone HD (ie. 4th gen iphone) having 960 x 640 screen res. If that's the case... will make for a VERY tough decision for ME...
as for a CDMA iphone... not really interested in any CDMA devices to be honest, which is why getting an EVO 4G is still a question mark for me.... but not out of the realm of possibility... if me area (Detroit) gets 4G by then.... i'll still consider the EVO 4G.... (assuming the contract free EVO pricing isn't too ridiculous... ie more than $600).... i won't do a 2yr contract... not for any reason... i'm contract free right now and that's how it will stay...
not if they gave me one for free...
I don't "hate" the iPhone. I just never wanted to give up common features and pay more money to switch over to it. If I hated the iPhone then why would I have an iPod Touch? I don't care who likes the iPhone because it isn't my business. As many people on tech sites are wont to do, I was simply making the case for why I chose what works for *me*. Just because I give my personal opinion doesn't mean I'm trying to speak for anyone else.
When the iPhone came out I would have had to give up my 3G, GPS, 3rd party software and multitasking, not to mention stuff like Qik and video recording that seem to be hitting their stride on the Evo. I wasn't about to give up things I used all the time and pay more for the privilege. If I was more concerned with the browser or the media player then maybe I would have felt differently. iPhone had and still has its strengths and weaknesses. I make my purchasing decisions based on the things important to me, not to someone else.
If anything I'm apathetic about the iPhone.

TS out
I don't know where you're at in "Detroit" assuming you're not in Detroit proper, but Metro Detroit won't be getting it in 2010 from the looks of it.
Me, no care ever. Still buying and running it on 3G. My campus has WiFi and my house has WiFi and that is good enough for me.
hmmm... that's bad news... (i'm in Oakland county btw... not in the city, not that it matters, still won't have the 4G coverage...)
without the 4G, it's not a big enough jump from my Nexus to make it worth it then... i'll stick it out until we have 4G... til then my rooted Nexus will be more than adequate
(a dude at work had the HD2 - he got is yesterday) - it is seriously MASSIVE... yeah, it's nice to have such a big screen, but the device itself is just HUGE... it's literally like a small tablet... it's made me rethink if i want to lug around such a beast... we shall see....
...... and there's that popsicle stick stand... last thing I need is that thing poking my scrotum![]()
Fortunately for me I'm tall and wear big jeans I guess![]()
