Root Taco Root

ok sorry been having a few beers watching football helping y'all that i missed the "no files found" during the flash.img and mtd-eng.img commands:o sorry

so taco root works that is good. you have a temp root now that is also good.

1.so do you have both the flash.img file and the mtd-eng.img files on the sd card?
2.and are they extracted?
3.what size card do you have? (the evo has a hard time with 2g cards for whatever reason)

yes
yes
4gb

yah my dolphins won!!!!

you said no to them being not in any folders. so they are in a folder? if they are then move the out of the folder. they just need to be on the card. no folders.

no they are on top!!

ok the files are extracted and they are placed on the sd card (not in any folders). it seems like you have it setup correct and that the paths are correct as well. i for some reason do not see why it is coming up as "no file or directory". your computer should see it. very odd.

so lets try this backup your sd card to the pc some place. then on your phone in settings>storage erase the sd card. this will reformat the card. then move the flash.img and mtd-eng.img files on to the card (no folders) and try again.

so still "no file or directory"? hmmmmm odd.

not sure why but i have seen this on a few occasions with no solution. but they were able to proceed to doing the captain's method. yes i know that they are the same files, but for some reason it worked. you might want to read up on the captain's method and try that out instead of taco root.

I had a thought, and it might be mute, but do you think this replacement phone from Sprint has an hboot version that wont work with TacoRoot?

no taco root actually worked. he was able to get # which is a temp root permission. changing the misc partition is where the trouble is at now. it is coming up as "no file or directory".

and the latest ota 5.07 did not change the hboot so it should always work. if there was a new hboot then taco root might not worked.

I was thinking mire along the lines of hboot 2.15 or 2.16 or 2.10 on it

hmmmmmm interesting thought.:hmmmm2:hmmmmmmm

i think that it should still work as taco root uses an exploit that is found in the stock recovery log. not sure if the older hboots do things differently or not.
