1) Sorry but there is no display as good as a Retina.

2) Agreed.

3) n/a

4) Like I said, no other phone has and can meet this. 3g 8 hours, 4g 8 hours. Both equal. Because it uses only one chip. That is continuous.

5) Can't compare, smaller screen.

6) Hmm, that was a real world test against other phones.

7) Google.

8) Yes, Alum/Glass vs plastic. It doesn't fall apart when you drop it like a S3 would and the back cover pops off.

9) No other phone does, and reason why I mentioned it.

10) Just a known fact.

11) no answer

12) Forgot the One X had one, but question is how good is it.

13) Better pictures come out with more brilliant colors for the average user.

14) Not built into the phones O/S, this is built into it. APPS can add it afterwards, but either way it comes with the phone.

15) Most Smart Phones come with headphones. These are the best ones out of the bunch.

16) 3 mics, like I said, no other one has it.

17) Speakers with more magnets/stronger ones produce better sound. Like any audio speaker.

18) Mic next to the ear piece listens to sounds around what you are listening too to make you hear better what the person is saying.

19) It supports HD Audio, but no provider right now supports it. So better quality audio over cell. Kinda like how a Blu-Ray would look to a DVD but in Audio.

20) Who cares if it's proprietary. It goes both ways. No need to figure out which way to plug it in.

1. There are Android phones that have a display just as good or better. I am interested in knowing what advantage the built in touch sensors offer..

2. I've not seen real-world battery consumption numbers from this phone which isn't surprising since it's not out yet. I've said before that, if true, this is impressive.

3. Advantage is what? Are there no other phones on the market that offer this? I don't know.

4. See #2

5. Sony Xperia SX is only 3.35 oz.

6. Again, I want to see real-world tests, not benchmarks.

7. I have no idea what sRGB is and I'm kind of a nerd. I honestly have no clue what, if any, advantage this is or whether any other phone has it.

8. Best build quality? You base this on objective test?

9. I have no idea if any other phone has this. You'd need a dual band wifi point to use it.

10. Umm, no clue how you measure "more durability."

11. Based on what objective tests?

12. The HTC One X has a 720p front camera. So does the Nexus 7 for that matter, but it's not a phone so technically we won't count it.

13. Again, means what to the average user?

14. Natively supported in several Android phones already. App support for it in Android as well as iOS. Hardly anything new.

15. Better earphones means what? Technically not an iPhone feature.

16. Most phones have at least two mics. I have no idea if there is a Android phone out there that has 3. Is a 3rd mike really a killer feature that people will notice though?

17. 5 speakers offers what advantage? Or are we just talking about a different way to do the same thing?

18. No clue what this is.

19. No clue what this is.

20. A proprietary adapter is not a killer feature. Heck, my Android phone has a different adapter than the iPhone. Does that make it a better or worse phone? Samsung uses proprietary adapters. Does that make them better phones? I don't get this one.

By Apples own definition of a "retina" display the one x/evo lte have one.( maybe others too, not sure) Your not going to see any pixels on my evos screen. Some things look better on the Apple. And vice versa. I'll admit for a while the iphone had a leg up in the screen department. But that's a close race nowadays.

Also panoramic mode is a stock feature of ice cream sandwich. Along with face unlock.(some tablets weren't lucky enough to get this for example my Toshiba thrive. Buy it DOES have panorama stock.) No 3rd party app needed. So that's been on Android for a while.

Android also has the first HD voice phone ( htc evo 4G lte) granted it hasn't been launched nationwide yet. (Or at all) But for now it has 2 mics for noise canceling. Call quality is amazing, I can stand next to a running diesel engine at work and you can barely hear it on the other end, which is really awesome. so I can't wait to see what hd voice does for It.

If the iPhone 5 is the phone for you then I wish you the best of luck with it. Overall, I'd say that some of these are advantages and other would be considered personal preference or opinion more than anything. Some of these are wait and see advantages too since we have no idea what things will be like in the real world. I really do hope it is all you want it to be and more though.

1) Retina Display with built in touch sensors (not a separate layer which is less sensitive)

1) Sorry but there is no display as good as a Retina.

You do realize that the retina display is marketing, right? It has a high pixel density, but so do a lot of phones. At what point does the pixel density matter? Once you reach HD most people can't tell the difference between 720p or 1080p on a 42" screen from a certain distance away. I understand that a phone display is different, but how close are people putting the phone to their eye to detect all those pixels?

This may be a bragging rights feature more than anything else. In reality the resolution of the screen isn't even full HD.

2) 4G LTE on one chip, not a separate chip. Less battery consumption, and the only phone in the world that has this.

As already said, it needs real world testing, but the downfall of this is that it eliminates SVAD. This is something Apple used to brag about in commercials and they no longer have it.

4) Up to 8 hours continuous talk time, 8 hours constant LTE usage for data. My S3 would be lucky to get 3 hours of this type of usage. Even my Razr MAXX.

4) Like I said, no other phone has and can meet this. 3g 8 hours, 4g 8 hours. Both equal. Because it uses only one chip. That is continuous.

I have not seen anything that says this phone will get 8 hrs of continuous 4G usage. 8 hrs of continuous connection I may believe, but the fact that the 3G and 4G usage hours are the same tells me something is wrong. As others have said, real world stats need to be established. Until then this is like a car company telling me I will get 25 Mpg in a Ferrari.

5) 3.95 oz weight (lightest phone)

5) Can't compare, smaller screen.

The claim is that it is the worlds lightest phone. In this comparison size makes no difference. It is the same as them saying it is the thinnest phone in the world during the live event. If the claim is wrong, it is wrong. Besides, why is this a huge advantage over all other phones? I used to hear iPhone users say that Samsungs were junk because they were too light. lol If the phone doesn't feel too heavy for the user then this stat is useless.

6) Fastest processor in tests blows the S3 Quad Core out of the water and probably all phones.

6) Hmm, that was a real world test against other phones.

Benchmarks are not and never will be real world comparisons. There are too many minor things that can effect a benchmark score. I remember one phone getting dogged because of a bad benchmark score and the GPU was the part giving it problems. In the real world a good phone is a good phone. Benchmark scores, good or bad don't make a bit of difference.

7) Full sRGB support

This may be beneficial, but I refer back to the display resolution and pixels. Is it something that people are going to really notice on a small screen. It makes me think about someone trying to compare DVD to Bluray on a 12" screen.

8) Alum/Glass and the best build quality of any phone out there.

8) Yes, Alum/Glass vs plastic. It doesn't fall apart when you drop it like a S3 would and the back cover pops off.

Pretty subjective don't you think? I could argue that aluminum and kevlar make a better and far more durable combo. This is a personal preference. If you like it then it is an advantage, if you prefer something different then it isn't.

9) Dual band 802.11n 150meg

9) No other phone does, and reason why I mentioned it.

I've had 3 phones that will work with 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands on 802.11n. It isn't all that new.

10) Sapphire Crystal on camera lens for better durability

10) Just a known fact.

Sapphire Crystal is far more durable and scratch resistant than glass. It is the reason so many watch companies use it. I wasn't aware that busted or scratched camera lenses were such a problem though. This is something I have been fortunate about.

11) fastest capture speed of any phone for camera

This is just on their say so at this point. I'm sure it is pretty fast though, the 4s was. Camera load time is pretty important as well and we'll have to see how fast that is.

12) 720p HD front facing camera

12) Forgot the One X had one, but question is how good is it.

Since it is HTC, I'd assume it is probably pretty good. The other side of that question is, how good is the iPhone's. Nobody knows yet.

13) A6 post processing of photos

13) Better pictures come out with more brilliant colors for the average user.

This is another area where I'm sure they did something nice. Apple has done some great things with their camera. If it makes it better then that is a good thing. The real question is better than what though. Better than the 4s or better than anything we've ever seen before? Better than the Lumia 920?

14) Pana pictures

14) Not built into the phones O/S, this is built into it. APPS can add it afterwards, but either way it comes with the phone

The feature was built in to ICS and Jelly Bean. So it has been around as apart of the OS for about a year now.

15) Better Earphones (one of a kind)

15) Most Smart Phones come with headphones. These are the best ones out of the bunch.

This is like saying that the Beats headphones that came with the Rezound made it a better phone. They were a neat added feature, as are the new headphones for the iPhone, but it only improves it as an MP3 player and not as a phone. Besides, I can go get a pair for about $20. Does that make my Razr as good as the iPhone 5 or better?

16) Three microphones

16) 3 mics, like I said, no other one has it.

I am sure that the third mic is designed to help out with noise canceling. I'm aslo sure this is a feature a lot of phones will start having if it there is noticable improvement in call quality. However, just because it has the third mic doesn't necessarily make it an advantage. If call quality isn't a lot better then the 4s then it is the equivalent of the Spinal Tap guy telling me that the volume goes to 11.

17) 5 magnet speakers

17) Speakers with more magnets/stronger ones produce better sound. Like any audio speaker.

I have seen nothing on this spec so I can't make much of a comment.

BTW, I always thought it was the size of the magnet and not the number than made a difference. I could be thinking of something else though.

18) 2-way noice cancelling earpiece

18) Mic next to the ear piece listens to sounds around what you are listening too to make you hear better what the person is saying.

I'm not honestly sure I get this one. How is the earpiece supposed to remove noise from the other person's side of the conversation without affecting the call quality? If I'm performing one of those Jawbone tests with jackhammers in the background there is no way this will cancel out the jackhammers and still allow my voice to come through properly.

This may be a feature that only works iPhone 5 to iPhone 5 which would make the 3rd mic make a lot more sense.

19) Wideband/HD Audio

19) It supports HD Audio, but no provider right now supports it. So better quality audio over cell. Kinda like how a Blu-Ray would look to a DVD but in Audio.

This is one of those, waiting for VoLTE features. Once we have it then HD audio will be supported more. I think it is cool that they are thinking ahead though. Then again other phones have this as well.

20) Reversible dock connector

20) Who cares if it's proprietary. It goes both ways. No need to figure out which way to plug it in.

I'm going to have to agree with others here. The whole proprietary connector thing isn't an advantage in my mind. They actually make me mad when I need a plug and don't have the right one. It will really suck when people are out with friends and need to charge, but nobody else has an iPhone 5. On the other hand, I can't think of a single person I know, including iPhone users, that don't have micro usb connectors in their house or car for something.

Wait, were people having trouble figuring out which way to plug their phones in lol? Nice "feature". But it's called the "lightning port" so it must be teh shiznit, right? A proprietary port is a huge disadvantage IMO. It's just a way for Apple to charge $30 (or maybe even more this time) for a charger that costs them ~$1 to make. Plus, think of all the money they're going to make selling adapters so people can use their old iPhone docks, etc. Can you say "license to print money"?

Exactly.

What about the things the iPhone5 simply doesn't offer?

1. NFC
2. Watching videos in 720/1080p
3. Widgets
4. Removable battery
5. Memory expansion via SD card
6. Flash support ( get it while it lasts!)
7. Freedom of customization!
8. Face unlock?
9. Gorilla glass ( really?)
10. Oh yeah I forgot.... NFC! NFC! NFC! NFC! :D

I picked up my friends 4s one time and I was completely shocked when I found out I couldn't take certain things off the home screen. That's nuts! It's supposed to be a home screen apple...not an app drawer.

Those are to name a few . I'm sure I'm missing more but this is just quickly off the top of my head. Any "new" features the 5 is packing is all seeming like catch up for Apple... 4glte / Panorama / turn by turn etc android has had for some time.

The argument about Apple having the best build quality is interesting to me. I'd say 80% of the iPhones I come across have broken glass. I barely see a broken android. But sh** happens. Lol. I have the HTC evo 4g lte.. It's built out of an aluminum unibody and is flawless. Not every android is plastic. But since when is plastic cheap? It won't shatter, bend, scratch(as easy as aluminum), and it's very light. Plastic is probably the best material for durability. Everyone wants to knock on Android for one reason. Yes there are 50 dollar android phones. Yes they are crap. But we aren't talking about one phone were talking about android. We all know what the super phones are. Sgs3/gnex/razr/onex/evo lte.

Android is ever changing. Every time a new super phone comes out its packing heat. And usually something never seen before.( HTC evo line for one. First 4g phone/ first 3d phone / first hd voice compatible phone) But on the contrary it seems every time apple releases there iPhone its " a disappointment, but I'm still gonna get it bc its the phone" They are always "innovating" just enough to stay relevant. I keep waiting for Apple to blow us away, because I truly believe they have it in them. But for now android is the OS to go with if you want to be the first to enjoy the latest and greatest technologies.

I really am thinking about picking up the iphone 5..seriously. The best part it is wouldn't be much of a learning curve, Since I've gotten used to its new features already having used my evo 4G lte for so long. :p

i dont get NFC. i've tried to use it in the store but not that big of deal.. tried sharing but it still uses bluetooth!

i dont get NFC. i've tried to use it in the store but not that big of deal.. tried sharing but it still uses bluetooth!

I've used it once with my Gnex and once with my N7 for payment (Wallet). Worked just fine but I don't find a ton of stores that support it so it's not really worth my while.
Really hoped the iPhone would have it as it would certainly give more incentive to other stores to use it as opposed to 2 or 3 Android phones. Used Beam once. Fine, but I can usually email a doc./map/photo nearly as fast.

Doesn't seem like a big deal until you fill up your gas thank and then realize your wallet is in your other pants. Then it will seem like a bigger deal than it does currently. Not sure you're sharing them if it's using Bluetooth. Also depends on what you're trying to share as the times I've shared something I place the phones back to back touching and then on both phones the screens shrink and it says to tap to share and when you do it's almost instant on the other device. Pretty cool if done properly but not something that you will use regularly most likely. Also, buy some of those NFC tags and set up some actions for the settings you change regularly. For instance one by the door so that when you leave it shuts off WiFi and turns Bluetooth on and then toggles back the other way when you get home at night or whatever it is you do. They're inexpensive and are pretty interesting with all of the things you can do with them.

People didn't think Bluetooth was all that impressive when first released but look how useful it's become now that the technology has been accepted. NFC, while somewhat similar to BT, has more possibilities ultimately due to execution.

The point is NFC isn't going to change your life but it does give some more possibilities and moving forward the more devices that use it (especially the iPhones) the more uses we will see come about because of it. Once it spreads and is more widely accepted you will start to appreciate it a lot more for what it is. Much like Bluetooth.

Used Beam once. Fine, but I can usually email a doc./map/photo nearly as fast.

I disagree with this statement. If the person is right next to you and you're trying to share a web page, YouTube video, whatever... there is NO faster way than touching the back of the phones together and taping the display once. Not even close. Hell, it takes you longer to long press on something just to bring up the command let alone all of the other steps required to get it on the other person's device. To say that any of the previous methods for sharing is nearly as fast simply isn't accurate.

2) 4G LTE on one chip, not a separate chip. Less battery consumption, and the only phone in the world that has this.
6) Fastest processor in tests blows the S3 Quad Core out of the water and probably all phones.

Doesn't the QC Krait S4 SoC operate LTE and multiple other bands on a single chip?

I'm not convinced NFC is a killer feature either. I've got it in my phone and on my N7. I've never used it. There are no stores around here that support it.

i still find regular debit card works faster. Just slide and fill you car. With NFC you take it out put near terminal enter pin, select the card and so on.

NFC on Galaxy Nexus and N7 uses bluetooth to transfer pictures or data.

It only shares links and web pages. It's kinda nice but not that big of a deal to me..

It would be way cooler to shoot some kinda red laser to pair devices/ ahahha

And btw nfc isn't a new type of bluetooth or wi-fi direct .. it's just a new way to connect devices/ That's actually make sense now.

Let's face it, the real reason for the proprietary design of the new iP5 connector rather than a standard is because that would make interoperability easier, which means less lock-in. The rest is just detail.

Nfc is really awesome. I use it on my evo lte daily. I just used It at lunch. It helps me budget money I use for lunch for the work week. And also when I want to run down to the store its nice not to walk all the way back to my toolbox to grab my wallet. My phone is always on me.. But my wallet usually isn't. I'm finding more and more stores that accept it. There is a free app that shows you all the locations that support it so I know before hand who accepts it.

If you haven't tried the nfc chips either I would highly suggest it. Such a cool technology. The possibilities with nfc are endless. They are just going to get cooler and cooler. Why would you want a phone without cutting edge technology? Nfc style payment options have been used overseas for some time now. It's only going to get bigger and bigger.

I agree that it's a technology that has a lot of possibilities to it. No question there. I'm just not convinced that at the moment it's something that is a killer feature. Most stores around here don't support it that I know of. Maybe they do support it, but I don't know that they do. I don't know what to look for to see if they support it. It's too new of a technology.

Well I myself would rather be on the front line of the technology rather than not have it at all. There are many convenience stores that accept it. Dicks sporting goods now accepts it. Many gas stations as well. But that is the apple way it seems. As android innovates and perfects apple will watch. Then when the time is right they will include into the iPhone 5s, call it i-nfc and then sue the pants off of some android company. Wouldn't be surprised. Everyone can say all they want that it's not important yadda yadda. It's only not important because the iPhone doesn't support it. If it did it would be the talk of the town.

i still find regular debit card works faster.
Just slide and fill you car. With NFC you take it out put near terminal enter pin, select the card and so on.

How does it work faster when you left your wallet in your other pants and don't even have your debit card with you? That was my point of when you would appreciate having other options. Saying your debit card is easier is missing my point entirely.

It only shares links and web pages. It's kinda nice but not that big of a deal to me..

Right, like I said... nothing something that will affect people every day just like when Bluetooth first came out it didn't really benefit too many people until more manufacturers and vendors start supporting it and more devices came with it. Now it's a standard and is used for all sorts of things beyond what it was originally used for. Same with NFC.

And btw nfc isn't a new type of bluetooth or wi-fi direct .. it's just a new way to connect devices/ That's actually make sense now.

I didn't say it was... I compared it to Bluetooth in that it's a connection free communication platform that when it first came out it wasn't all that popular and most people couldn't understand how helpful it could be. Now that it's the industry standard the amount of people who benefit from it has exponentially grown. I mean, could you imagine a smart phone today being made w/o Bluetooth? What a joke. NFC should be the same way.

1) due to security issues they do not support this yet. Reason why blackberry doesn't either.

2) it does this on the 5.

3) no need. Uses more battery life

4) good, but also prevents the phone from getting as small as it does.

5). Wish it did.

6). Old technology. They saw it dying. It's html5 now.

7) true

8) gimmic

9) it has gorilla glass 2

10). Again poor security.

You can remove apps off the home screen fine.

Why would you want a phone without cutting edge technology?

Because that's the way of the Apple fanboi. If their precious Apple product doesn't have it then they don't really need it or it adds instability. Always excuses. Well, I'd rather just have the technology and not have to make up excuses for why I don't need it or don't use it.

When you think about NFC, you need to take Google Wallet out of your mind. I know it is what most people think of when someone talks about NFC, but the tech is capable of so much more.

Think about scanning, QR codes, sharing, settings, door locks, starting your car, work security, desktop and car docks, gym memberships, business cards, wifi hotspots, gift cards, signing in, gift registries, health care information, hotel check in, airline boarding passes, recipes, shopping lists, museum tours, driving directions, coupons......

There are so many possibilities with the technology it is amazing. Saying that it isn't useful is like people saying that nobody needs a computer in their home back in the early 80's. Saying that there are security issues is like saying that Macs can't get viruses.

why was it ... when an android phone was lighter.. it was bad quality and sucked.
why was it ... when an android phone was thinner.. it was cheap and sucked.
but now..
now that iphone5 has dropped its size and weight.. it is a killer innovation.

what about screen size.. why is it so great.. now that iphone has grown?

Definitely agree, I just use g wallet as an example bc its what I use most right now. I use the chips too but I'm still getting used to their capabilities. :)
It really is a neat technology.
