hero doesn't read new sd card

I just received in the post a new class 6 microsd card 8gig. Now, when I remove the the card I got with the phone, I first unmount it in the settings then physically remove it. I get notifications telling me this too. When I install the new card nothing happens and I get no notifications.

Am I missing something here??

The card's factory formatting might be screwy.

Is the "Format SD card" option available in Settings - SD Card? If so try that. If not can you unmount it (from the same menu) and then format?

Uh-oh. Don't suppose you've got a card reader to hand that you can try it in? It sounds as if it may be defective.

One other thing I can think of, although you may well have tried it.... replace the original card, and shut down the handset once it's recognised and mounted. Restart it, then remove the card and pop the new one back in.

I've tried it on the card reader and its not recognised the sd card. I've emailed the guy I bought it off, from ebay, and hopefully he will give me my money back or send another card.

I'd say it's goosed then. Bad luck - hope you get a replacement quickly.
