Root AOSenseP2beta--Updated 10/26/12--mini-update

Actually it takes a little bit of work and some know how on how Sense handles apns and also knowing what each phone firmware has difderently. On IcedSpeed 2fast figured out what he began working on during the first test release of xfuzzion with multi carrier installs. This was perfected on the second release of IcedSpeed and taken to a new level on xfuzzion final release. If you took a boost, a sprint, and a us cell phone running xfuzzion you will notice that all three have carrier specific differences although they used the same file to install the firmware on their devices. Us cell would have no 4g settings or branding anywhere, boost should have the boost settings features as well sprint the ability to change their prls. Many companies put out the same phone over multiple carriers I just bought a sgs3 and its more than 3 carrier specific. The challenges are there but it is far from being impossible to do so. Anyone who used IcedSpeed or xfuzzion will tell you they had mms working straight from install, among other carrier specific features. Had xfuzzion Been developed after the sprint ota I think the sprint carrier specific menu in settings would have also been added as well. A Hero S user on the mentioned Rom does not have the boost phone activation menu in settings. I guess you would need to see all three phones installing the same Rom and seeing the differences to appreciate what I am referring to. Impossible NO!!!!!

+100 I still use xfusion on my phone, but wanted to give this a try of my wife's phone.. When new rom comes out, I prefer to test it on hers, as she doesn't use it as much as I do mine.. Now that may sound strange as you might ask why try it on hers rather than yours, since you use it more.. Well I'm a truck driver and it is important to have my phone 100 percent functional all the time..

Ran this rom for a little bit and loved it.. After reading about the PRL update issue, I just wonder if there's a way to fix this or do it manually. Is there an app that maybe could handle these PRL updates?

Not that I know of. But if your phone is rooted, and you have the advanced epst option, you can change your stock prl for a different one..I do this base on what area of the country I'm currently in.. In some area I get no service. But by changing out my prl, I can get towers that are not currently listed on my prl file, which gives me much better service, when I need it..

HaydenM. Sorry. I'd asked you to be a tester but life happened and I didn't get to test it till last night.

I tried the ROM that was on this thread yesterday. After flashing I lost 3g. I thought maybe my phone had reverted back to Sprint but I flashed the Ics xFuZiionZz-4.3.2 and my 3g came right back up. Not sure why flashing your rom would break 3g.

I did wait for a bit to see if it'd come back automatically but it didn't. Since android without 3g is just depressing I flashed back... didn't really try much else. Voice and text work.

BTW. I have a Sprint Design flashed over to Boost. So I'm probably in a small minority in this section.

You have to enable Data on mobile under setting.. It's off for some reason, but turned it on and my 3g came back just fine.

Here is the link for the file you need on your device to fix your mms. Push it using adb.

telephony.db-wal - 474.91 KB

Copy it to the root drive of your computer ( usually the c drive)

open a command prompt window then

cd c:\
adb push telephony.db-wal /data/data/com.android.telephony.providers/databases/

then reboot to recovery
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
fix permissions
reboot

I push it , in the mms still not working for me , another thing after push the GPS is broken.

The current release is for boost mobile only.

As far as updating your prl head over to the warp forum and do some reading. There are a couple of products that can be used for this.

If you restore your ' dialer storage ' it will restore your apn info

If you can't post or send me info out of your logcat there is no point in me responding to this or you posting it. I use this tool on a regular basis to fix problems or to see how different apps work together and without it there is no way to troubleshoot anything.

I would be curious to know what folders and files you have under your data/data/com.android.telephony.providers folder. Typing one wrong symbol or letter or space in adb can screw things up real quick. I've left the '/' off the end before and all hell broke loose on my phone. I want to help you but I can't unless you follow directions and I have stated many times that I need logcat info.

Thanks. That setting completely slipped my mind. I'm going to give it another shot later on and see how it fares.

Hi everyone. This is a great ROM, I gotta say is one of the nicest ROMs I have seen for this device :)
One little issue here. I am using App Manager to edit the APN for Open Mobile Puerto Rico, for those who need the APN here you go:

APN Name: Production
APN: 1
MMSC: >>http : // mms. openmobilepr. com: 1981<< altogether, no spaces.
MCC: 000
MNC: 00
APN Type: mms

For some reason when I use the APN Manager or even using the Open APNs voice command still have some issues with sending MMS, I can receive pictures, but can't receive contact cards. I even downloaded APN change to check which APN I am using and it says I am using the "Production" one. Is there any fix for this? I have the right MMS.

Thanks for the ROM again and keep it up.

PS: Can you make HTC Locations program to work on this ROM? It is awesome GPS software.

boricua!!!!!

Boricua hermano.

Sent you a pm. Htc sense has the apn info hardcoded into the framework. HTC uses build flags as best as I gathered when building Cartier specific firmware thus it makes it a pain changing apns. You can push them to your data partition but I don't think that will survive a factory reset or a data wipe. The best way is to hardcode your apn info by decompiling the proper apk and then recompiling it after you edit the xml. This is the best and surest method. Send me a pm if you need help as I can do it for you in like 2 minutes. All you will need is to replace the proper apk with the modified one. A simple manipulation of the install script in the Rom could do this during the install thus making it seamless for the end user, instead of having all carriers users modify the apn files after install. I would like to add Puerto Rican carriers so thanks for the apn info. Cm10 and aosp roms handle apns differently than sense so using the voice dialer works on those and no need to do xml edits. The xml method hardcodes the apn info with the firmware and will survive a data wipe or factory reset. Pm me back if you need help on anything.....

Also your build.prop needs to match the mnc of your apn or it will not load it. I tried offering the dev here a hand on this but he never got back to me. I have been watching this thread out of curiosity more than anything. CDMA handles apns differently than GSM phones. So if your apn conf xml as I understand it does not have the proper apn info in the first line it will ignore all of them. I imagine the ZTE guys are great but unless they are famimiliar with the nuances of sense they might be oblivious to this things as it seems HTC specific. I changed phones to a Sammy so even now I am finding out that touchwiz is a bit different also. Although I changed phones I am still looking at some threads here as I am getting the nerve to try a s off method as I could care less now if I brick this phone since it is now nothing more than a paperweight for me.

I definitely could use your help on this and between being busy with work and the timezone difference I haven't had the time to bug you. I appreciate the offer and anything you can contribute in the forum I'm sure would be appreciated by all.
I think this ROM has come together a lot better than expected and like I told you already it has a lot to do with you and your team and the work you guys have done. :My only goal here was to Get the wheels turning and do what I was told That couldn't and wouldn't work. I was the one who first posted a decent aosp ics rom when I got that aokp from the shift running on the Htc kernel that couldn't run it. I am learning on my own so and I would be happy if anyone wants to get publicly involved with this kang of kang Project.

Updated OP....New release coming tonight or tomorrow with more features and hopefully an mms fix.

If you have a titanium backup of your apps from when your mms was okay, then do a restore of 'Dialer Storage' .

If not I am working on a flashable zip of my backup less my personal data which should work.
