He only mentioned being able to do voice/wifi at the same time(which Sprint already confirmed), nothing about voice/4g...

There's no doubt in my mind that the EVO 4G is the way to go. Some people like Jackson (Supersonical) who has posted here thinks there's going to be very heavy promotion for the EVO and WiMAX starting in a couple of weeks. When that happens, it will get lots of people's attention.

And with that new Sprint policy, this phone looks like a no brainer.

This will be alot of fun when we get one in our hands. Ironically, I am just ready for the low tech feature of no more dropped calls, lol. This Iphone is just a POS, with call quality.

I direct this question toward you because I see you're from Tampa but anyone can chirp in. What do you think of Sprint's coverage in the Tampa area? I had Sprint when I lived in Minneapolis and thought it was great, but when I moved to Tampa a few years ago I was told that when you get away from Tampa closer to the burbs the coverage is not great. I live just north of Hillsborough in Pasco county and I want to make sure I'm not dropping calls or not getting service at home or if I'm traveling a little farther north.

I've read the posts about WinMax coming to Tampa in the near future and that has made me consider making the switch. Thanks for your input.
 
Hi jpatrick. I don't really have much to say. Wherever I go, I have good service, except when I'm way out in the country. I do get more bars, when I get closer to more populated areas.

Did you see the article that came out today "Sprint Satisfaction Guaranteed or Money Back"? That's what Techman was talking about in his statement above yours.

My advice would be to wait for the EVO 4G and try it for 30 days. I think you're going to be extremely impressed. If not, you can get all of your money back, no questions asked.

hey patrick. i live in north hillsborough, so i am a little closer to you. the coverage in the area is very good. i dont think you will have any problems.

I used to live in South Tampa, and I had great coverage with Sprint. That was before I switched to Tmo.

Whenever I would go visit my dad out in the Brandon area, though, My signal strength would get worse and worse.

Overall I had pretty good signal.

It's not that way in Brandon anymore. I always get full bars there.

I don't really know what you're getting at, you've always been able to do voice and data at the same time if you were connected on WiFi as well.

You made it sound like he was saying the only way you can do voice/data at the same time is over WiFi, which has not been confirmed by Sprint as of yet.
 
Thanks guys. I was holding out for the Incredible (currently with Verizon); however, I think I'll wait for the Evo, try each out in the store, and if I like the Evo better I'll take Sprint up on their "free" 30 day trial.

Oh, and yeah, Brandon traffic still is not good.

My source was the guy in the supersonic release video with the gloves on. I don not work for Sprint but i am a part of their DEVELOPER website. I do not have the phone. Like i said, i know someone with it and i have seen it. So please believe what i tell you for it is fact. If i say im not sure or i am speculating (which i sometimes do haha) it means just that.

I am here to help you all. Not for any personal gain. So i thank all of you who have backed me and appreciated my info and i promise for more to come =)

All off us that have been here since before the Supersonic(EVO now) threads were made and ppl over at the Sprint forums know you have been correct and been feeding us good info
 
getting closer to the meeting. read another article that adds to the possibility of it being about the evo.


"Wireless provider Sprint has scheduled a meeting for all of its retail employees on Wednesday, according to a Monday report. Exactly what the top secret meeting will be about is not known by MobileCrunch, and even retail managers reportedly do not know the specifics. Whatever occurs, the news is expected to be big, as Sprint usually prefers to send memos for less critical updates. Many believe it could have something to do with either the upcoming HTC Evo 4G or a price and release date for Google's Nexus One. Another possibility is regarding the release of Android 2.1 for the Hero and Moment, though this isn't likely to be big enough news to warrant a company-wide virtual meeting at Sprint."
 
Hi Jackson,

I saw some positive comments from people that hold you in the highest regard and I saw some from skeptics that weren't as flattering over in the Sprint forum today. For me personally, I believe you and tend to go along with whatever you say. Not so much to appease you, but because I think you're right on.

As far as I'm concerned, you bring excitement to this forum and I welcome your comments. If you decide this is a friendlier environment and think you would like to hang with us, then great, we gain a friend and the others in the other forum loose one.

Just talked to my source he said while he can't confirm it, because they won't even tell him!!!!, the word around the office has been that it will be a launch date for the Evo and the exact specifics and such!!!

Gonna be a Supersonical evening guys!
 
lmao i just "caught up on my reading" on the sprint forums about all those guys bashing you jackson. they need to grow up. and i think you are right that it is probably some whiny verizon guy.

anyways.. i dont have homework tonight so im committing myself to always be looking for new news lol. by now its very hard to believe that this meeting will be about the N1 or EVO.
