I haven't been in to my Verizon store to ask because I figure any info they give me will be from the internet. But I am tempted to go in and ask about getting an Android phone so I can elicit a Droid / Eris suggestion and I can be all "Those aren't the droids I'm looking for."

Of course, there are many things we can't factor in. iPhone 3GS has a lower resolution than the Nexus One Snapdragon. So snapdragon may as well be better overall.

Ok, but this doesn't really answer my question in terms of GPU/CPU architecture. Also, a higher resolution doesn't imply higher performance. In fact, it may imply lesser perceived performance, because the GPU and/or CPU have more work to do when updating the images onscreen. Does anyone else have more information?
 
What do you guys think of egg_head posting this in the Main Incredible Forum.

Lol, i didn't imply higher resolution gave higher performance. I said the opposite stating that snapdragon may well be faster because it's running at a higher resolution while the iPhone on a lower one.

Heres your answer: GPU on the iPhone and DROID is dedicated i believe. This means it only processes graphics. I think on Snapdragon it is integrated which means it shares.

Im not 100% sure though, there are probably other ppl out there with more knowledge on this than me.

The picture on the Nexus one was killer it was like comparing the picture from a VHS tape to a Blue Ray the colors WOW. Thanks I had not seen that comparison before......

I'm thinking what you're *trying* to say is that the Snapdragon theoretically would need to be faster because it's running at a higher resolution to maintain the same or better performance as the iPhone (or Droid).

I will wait and see if anyone has more details on the other part of my question =)
