I remember reading last Fall that going forward you wouldn't see any phones with Verizon >$199 on 2 year contract, new or upgrade. There's just no need to price higher anymore, and $200 is still a reasonable ceiling, at least for most smartphone consumers. The required data plan compensates nicely for just about any subsidy these days, and the feature phones that don't require it are just cheaper coming from the manufacturer. I'll bet on this being $199 after $100 rebate in-store or instant discount online.

My month is almost up in a few days..... I went to the Verizon Store on Camp Creek, (ATL) and the sales lady told me that if I return my Eris today and get another phone that I should be sure because I can't exchange whatever phone I get today....

I work on Cleveland Ave :D

Draconian...good word for it... that's why I'm not gonna wait for the vz iPhone. Android is for me. I like my FREDOOOOOM!!!!

I'm with you Steven58. After working on Crapples  Opps, I mean Apples, I will NEVER own anything manufactued by them. They have way to high falure rate.

Today I saw a guy in CVS who I recognized worked at a Verizon store near by. I asked if he knew when "the new HTC device, the Incredible, was coming out." His reply was, "you mean the new phone for Sprint?" FAIL.

I told him it was a different phone, and he said he hadn't heard anything about it yet. He also said he is waiting for the "Google Phone" himself, though he couldn't remember the name. I asked him if that was coming soon, he said he thinks so but the only information he has is "from a couple internet sites." He told me Verizon does keep them in the dark about new phones.

Dammit, the twitter guy was just like everyone else.

His friend with the test device said within two weeks just like everyone else.

God dammit..........

I was w/Alltel for 3 years and VZW for one (until last month). VZW has sold devices recently @ $299, with $100 mir - see the moto droid.

Also, I never saw an instant in-store rebate, ever. Online yes, in-store nope.

how about I give you ideas for apps you make em and I will test em....on my incredible of course.
:DLOL

Sounds good cause it always seems I'm a day late on coming up with the idea. If I could sell an app for $1 each profit to a million INCREDIBLE people that would be nice.

I have to disagree with NKT. An IQ phone is a phone sent to a rep to try for a while.

IQ is a program that most senior reps in stores are asked to participate in at VZW. It is meant to raise a rep's "IQ" about a device.

Reps can go to the IQ website and order a device that they would like to try. Generally speaking, new/hot devices are on what they call "allocation." In other words, these devices may be needed for sale. so no VZW employee may purchase the device personally, or get the device thru the IQ program, sometimes for a matter of weeks until they see how many are being sold. If plenty are in stock, then employees may purchase the device and the device becomes available for one to order via the IQ program.

IQ phones are not what are used by reps as their work cell phone (the # listed on the business card). Typically, an employee is given a choice of any device, once per year, to use as a work cell. An IQ device, on the other hand, comes with its own number. Say I am in Florida, my IQ phone may come with a Oklahoma mtn.

That said, I never participated in the IQ program, because if I couldnt put the device on my work line, and actually get real use out of it, then why would i want it? To play with in the evenings? I don't think so. I always got my hands-on experience with new devices by playing with our demo units when the store was not busy.

An IQ devices model # comes with IQ before the actual model #. Just as an insurance device with Alltel, for instance, came with a TS before the model #, e.g., TSAX8600BLU was the model # for an Asurion refurbished LG 8600 blue.

Correct. My girlfriend and some good friends of mine work at the call center out here. I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone of my friends who are store reps talk about it.

The IQ phone is basically a phone that you get to play with. You sign up for a new Palm and BAM, you got it. You take it with you, you play with the keypad, fool with it, whatever. It puts it in your hand and you are supposed to check it out. By asking you to do this you not only get to play with a new phone, but other people see it. "Oh, is that a new Palm?! That looks sweet". The IQ program is the reason I never pulled the trigger on the Storm. What a garbage phone.

The IQ program sends you whatever phone you ask for. Those in the call center are actually not supposed to use their personal phones to text or play with during calls, but you are asked to play with an IQ phone if you've got one. Basically they are telling you to play with a cool new phone that you don't own... I wish my job was that awesome. =( However, with that many employees and that many phones everywhere noone really cares if you are on your personal device.

The systems seems pretty interesting and allows you to make a better and more informed decision about a phone, before you get one.

I can't wait for a concrete release date! I'm tired of hearing everyone saying 2 weeks every day that goes by, people said 2 weeks.. 2 weeks ago lol :D

Makes me think of the movie Total Recall when Arnold's character is wearing the disguise of the female tourist and she keeps saying, "Two weeks, two weeks, twoooo weeeks!" as her head comes off.

Good times, good times.
