Root [CDMA] Connect Kindle Fire to Evo3D

tcdell

Lurker
I have a rooted and hacked HTC EVO 3d (CDMA) on Sprint. I installed MeanROM which works well. I am unable to connect a Kindle Fire to the WIFI tether. I have tried the rooted WIFI tether app, the FoxFI (which tells me that the HTC has a block and I must use a bluetooth), and Barnacle. I have tried different settings with no luck. Any suggestions?

Try installing ZT-180 ad-hoc switcher on your kindle fire.

Can you connect anything else to Wi-Fi tether? There are a few steps to complete before using the pre-installed wifi app.

Also are you on the Meanrom ICS version Rom, if yes, you will also have to make sure the device profile is set to ICS/JB Generic, and also make sure you accept the WiFi in the access control

Yes, I am on the MeanRom ICS and I set it to generic ICS/jb. It now says it is conncted, but no data will download. By the way, thinking I might have better luck if I rooted the KF, I did that too. I installed jelly bean ROM on the KF. Still no luck connecting. Reinstalled the ad hoc. It keeps asking me to "allow" but just keeps asking the same question. I don't know if something else will connect because I have nothing else wireless to check with.

OK, I finally solved the problem. I needed to get into the "setup method" of the WiFi
Tether program on the phone and change it from "auto" or "ad-hoc" to "Netd (master)."
