It sounds as though you may have a kernel mismatch widu13.

You have the P variant phone on O2 firmware, LPH.

Could you post your original, full, kernel details that you are attempting to root with the LPH, CF-Root kernel.

I can find no trace of that kernel for the O2U, "P", variant. :confused:

Basically, I think you have flashed a CF-Root kernel that does not correspond to your original kernel which would explain not being able to boot up. Since I cannot be sure of your phone's original kernel at this stage, I think it would be best if you flashed your stock Samsung, "P" variant, firmware to your phone, using Odin. This would return you to the stage you were at prior to your attempted root and once you are up and running you can ascertain exactly what the stock kernel is so that you can root your phone.

From your post, you are on the, "P", variant firmware which you can download to your PC from here.

You can then flash this firmware, which includes the stock kernel, using Odin and following the instructions here in post #1, under the heading, "My firmware is not eligible for ICS yet but I want it now!".

Was I using the correct kernel?
 
The CF-Root kernel, LPH, would have been my first choice for rooting. It sometimes happens that the obvious choice does not work and usually moving up one solves the issue. In this case it would be, LPJ.

I would be inclined to re-try LPH and, if unsuccessful, move on to LPJ.
 
I need to know which kernel i can/should use to root my SGS2 (following this guide). I am not 100% sure so if someone would be so kind and give me the name (or link if that's allowed) it would be very helpfull. Thanks

Chainfire has released a whole batch of CF-Root kernels, v5.5 & v5.6, for ICS, Android 4.0.3 & 4.0.4, and these have the, anti "brick bug", patch. :)

Hi all
I have done a rooting a day ago and that went well with:CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KI3-v4.1-CWM4
After that I did a firmware upgrade:I9100ZSLPQ_I9100OZSLPQ_TGY
thereafter..
I could not connect to Kies nor Odin and no root access and the mmi codes wouldn't not work. After trying multiple times I got access through Odin so
I did another rooting exercise with the above root file:

The phone does not boot and is stuck at the triangle even though I have tried the recovery changes as described at the start of this tread(dummies guide):confused:
Please, would someone be able to guide me through and solve this??

Just to clarify kiwig...

Your phone was originally running stock Samsung, Gingerbread, firmware and you rooted it with the CF-Root kernel, KI3, which was successful?

You then flashed stock Samsung, ICS, firmware for Hong Kong, OZS, to your phone... which includes a stock Samsung, unrooted, kernel.

You then tried to re-root your phone using the old Gingerbread firmware CF-Root kernel, again, which is not suitable for ICS?

You must now flash the complete OZS, ICS, firmware to your phone again and then re-root your phone, using the Dummies Guide, and use the correct ICS, CF-Root kernel, not the old Gingerbread one, this time.

The phone is stuck on the yellow triangle after I had re-rooted.
So do I re-flash the OZS ICS regardles if it is stuck. Could it be that it is stuck on this screen because I was only on half battery power? I just did not notice that before going through the exercise.
 
Re-boot into Download mode, (as per the instructions for this in post #2), and connect your phone to Odin and re-flash the firmware before re-rooting.

do you know if there is a way of boosting the signal for the internal phone at all ?

Hi, I came across this thread searching on a guide to root my SGS2.

I followed the guide closely, but I still ended up stuck at the yellow triangle while booting.

Big mistake on my part not taking down the details of my phone.
(Actually I did a screenshot on it and I have no access to it now since it's stored in the internal memory)

I remember the kernel version being something like I9100DXLPB

on android version 4.0.3

I used CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXX_LPB-v5.2-CWM5-PROPER

I did the recovery mode as mentioned but did not work.

Any advice on this?
