Rooting the desire tomorrow?

There is a lot of chatter on XDA and Modaco that if T-mobile get a phone to him tomorrow Paul will be releasing a rooted ROM almost immediately.

Who's going for it straight away? I am going to if he has something up his sleeve other than the goldcard method.

I bought my HTC Desire today and its the first Android phone ive had so i have read up on rooting. I will be waiting to see how easy it is, how stable it is, and to see if i can improve what i already have.

Well Paul has got his Desire. I am itching to get some App2sd love and install a few apps that I miss from my Hero.

I just registered to find some more information on this. If he released a rooted ROM, how do we get this on our devices?

Sorry for the noobness, I've had my desire a day.

Thank god you asked .... thats what i was kinda sheepishly saying. I have no idea too, but theres alot of reading to be had on Modaco if you want to look there.

The process is in three steps.
1. Gaining root access.
The easiest method for the Desire is still to be confirmed, there are several ways, keep your eyes peeled on Monaco/XDA.

2. Installing a custom recovery image.

3. Installing a custom Rom.

There is plenty on the forums on each step. All will become clearer once a dev breaks cover with a rooted Rom.

what do you mean by rooting ? changing the ROm or something ?

Rooting = gaining root access, so that you can modify contents of /system partition. And yes, that mean you will be able to use custom ROMs, install apps that require root (i.e. Dropcap2), etc.

lol yeah, just went to carphone warehouse and bought one. And the battery led just this minute went green :D
