Hello, everyone!! Finally back from an extended drill. I'm still in training so we had to go Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with no phone or internet access. Such is life, but now I'm back to civilization as of 3:30 this morning.

Why so late you might ask? I hit an ELK on the way home from Boise. Ugh.

At the office a couple of people came out and called me jokingly "murderer" or "elk killer." I simply responded that the elk attacked me, and I simply defended myself.

Fish and Game is letting us keep the elk. The officer even helped me gut it right there! Idaho passed a new bill this year allowing you to salvage roadkill if you want to, rather than waste the meat. He wrote us an elk tag on the spot. I had a buddy come and help me load it into the truck, and we're going to split the meat. Even after the damaged meat is subtracted, he estimates we'll have about 200 lbs of elk left over to split between us.

They're gonna check out the care tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it's totalled. Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
