Let's see... It's not about fanboys, it's about how you use it, how you look at it. Everyone has their personal needs and tries to figure out what they want and how the want it.
Below is the list of adv for me personally.
1. Price (VM)! I mean, do I need to be more obvious than that? I refuse to pay $600 for almost the same things I do on cheaper devices.
2. Free apps! It's true than android has more free apps. Not saying they are better or worse, or more apps overall. Just the ones I need are on the Google Play and they just happened to be free.
3. Google (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Picasa and more)! I do enjoy the integration with Google services. Not sure I use them because I have android phone or I started using android because I was already hooked on Google.
4. SD Card! I have 3 of them. I'm just not used to the idea of limited storage. One is for travel purposes only. Plug it in, 2 offline navigation apps, pictures, 25 gb of music to listen in the car. Another is movies only, I watch a lot of them and very little of music. Third: Cartoons! Whenever my 5 year old using my tablet on the back seat.
5. No iTunes (Nothing)! Actually, this one is big one. I owned iPod for a while and idea of plugging my iPod in friend's laptop and not able to transfer anything is just ridiculous.
6. Easy root, custom ROMs! Let's be honest, we enjoy rooting, overclocking, flashing customs. It's just fun. Yes, they are not perfect, but how fun is it flashing Stock, Sharp, CM7, then CM9, then back to Sharp, then Starship, then CM10, then back to CM7. (Right now running modified STOCK, btw). My wife had no complains about her phone whatsoever, I rooted it and flashed CM7 just because I can
7. MAPs (Google)! Ouch, Apple. I like to travel, I drive a lot, I can't even describe how many times I relied on the Maps.
8. Different manufactures (hardware)! Yes, Moto let us down, screw them. Triumph is my 4th android, and all of them were different. I enjoy slim, small, large, thick, qwerty, big screen, small screen, black, yellow, pink, square, round, faster, slower. It's a good feeling coming from something outdated to something new, unlike going from 3G to 3GS.
9. Let's fix it (community)! So, you're not happy, something is terribly wrong with your phone, GPS won't work, Keyboard has no dictionaries, volume is low, screen flickers... Don't wait for vendor to fix it, jump to the forums, there are people with similar problem and they know how to fix it. While you are there, grab beats audio, or some cool live wallpaper, get flashable zip to remove all this crapware that your phone has. Which leads me to the number 10.
10. Customize it (Launchers)! Launchers, launchers, launchers. More launchers. Small, fast, bulky, tiny, minimalistic, gigantic, with widgets... oh yes, widgets! More widgets...I'm minimalist, I used lightest and fastest, but hey, whatever suits you, they have it.
again, this is not comparison of Android vs iOS. Just for me personally on day by day basis.
