All right, so I grabbed a tummy pillow and waddled into Verizon. I do know how to pregnancy waddle, after all. I started very early signs of labor. I yelled "Is there a doctor in the house?" Verizon reps ended up scurrying from whatever they were doing to come see. One of them asked me what was wrong. I grabbed his arm and looked him in the eyes. "I'm having a baby." He got a terrified look on his face. "I'll call an ambulance!" I grabbed his arm in a death grip and growled out. "There's no time, you idiot. I am having this baby now!" The other reps are looking at each other panicked at this point. "Are you sure?!" Other reps were finding their voices now. I looked at the questioning person with as close to the fury of a woman in labor I could muster. "OF COURSE I'M SURE!! THIS AIN'T MY FIRST RODEO!!!" I screamed and doubled a little, my grasp tightened on the poor guy's arm. Hopefully I don't have a unique hand size, because this is gonna leave evidence. "What do we do? What do we do?!"

A panicked rep was litterally running in circles now. He ran by me and I grabbed his arm. "Stop panicking and stressing out the woman in labor!" He was white as a ghost. Another employee's eyes lit up like he got an idea. He ran to the back to get the manager. He and the manager emerged. The manager pauses is disbelief and fear for a moment then runs to me. "I was present at my wife's labor. Maybe I can help until the paramedics get here?" 'I'm screwed now' I think. I am going along with this labor bs when an idea of brilliance strikes me. "I'm a high risk pregnancy!" Fear has struck this man's face again while most the others have no idea what I am talking about. "Oh, no. Umm...Ummm....Don't panic!!" I made a show of almost fainting at this point. "Please, I don't want to lose this baby and I can't leave my husband and 2 year old. They need me!!!" The manager stammers while people are panicking. The assistant manager looks at his boss, "I think you should pull *it* out, Stan."

"But, Richard. It is still a secret."

"It may be their only hope, Stan! Screw corporate and all their secrets!" Stan thinks for a minute and I scream again, begging for help. Stan nods and runs to the back. He emerges with a box. As he is running back to me he is ripping the box open. He holds a phone up and there are stares and murmurs from all the employees. "A phone?!" I shout in anger. "How the heck is that supposed to help?!" He powers it on. Wow, I have never seen a smartphone power on and be ready for use so fast! I am having to try hard not to drool over the phone. He quickly downloads an app. By quickly, I mean almost instantly. Boy, do I need this phone. He puts the phone on the ground and it transforms!!!

Yes, it transforms into a robot. It makes it's way closer and I grab it and take off running. It struggles until I tell it "Stop. I am taking you to people who will worship you as the true piece of amazing machinery you are." It then stopped fighting. The VZW people were hot on my heals. The phone downloaded another app. I got a quick glance at the name. The ScarFace app. There were gunshots. A lot of them. It took a long time. More VZW employees kept coming out of no where. In red shirts, suits, black cars. The phone downloaded another app. A Harry Potter app. Next thing I know, a cloak of invisibility is around us. We made our escape. I got to a safe place to stop and used it to come here and let you all know where the meeting point is.

If you thought this was real, there is no hope for you. I hope to have provided a laugh or two.

Brava!

That definitely would be a convenient feature to have - especially on vacation. My question is, with wifi connectivity within a home and so many devices being connected wirelessly to a central router, I wonder how long it is before Android (if they don't have it already) has the capabilities of sharing multimedia to devices within the network? For instance, without the need for an HDMI cable I can stream HD quality movies between my DVR, my home computer, my PS3, and my laptop. If I had an application that allowed me to do that with my phone as well, then I wouldn't necessarily need an HDMI port - at least within my home network.

In the words of Paris Hilton:

"That's hottttt"

The Eris has been out forever now! It's OLD news. Come on, it's just a re-badged Hero! You've waited this long for the Incredible, no wonder the Eris is being given away for a penny :-D

Thankyou for pulling me back. :o I could have bought the Eris when I got the droid... There was a reason I didn't and I NEED to remember that. I am lucky, I have not waited for the Inc. as long as the rest of you, I am almost like verizon people cause I didn't even know about it until just before CTIA and now it seems I know more than verizon. I ran across the information just looking for ANY new vz phones with android cause I didn't like what they had to offer. Now I am like a mad dog that can't find his favorite bone and it is driving me CRAZY.

I completely agree that the inc is soooo much better looking than the moto droid. Sexy. I am old and I need something to make me feel sexy. I am easily swayed so I am trying NOT to be drawn into waiting for the NEXT new phone cause I could not take the waiting until the end of summer. If something better comes out, I will just have to cut down on the grocery expenses to pay full price for the next better one. :D I can hear it now...... "Sorry kiddo... gonna have to cut you back to one or two meals a day cause mamma NEEDS a better phone than the Incredible I have been playing with for the past few months." "your pants are too short... oh well we can just make short or capris out of them... that will work" j/k. :o

My husband doesn't have a smart phone but i do. Wait... maybe he does have a "smart phone"... It was accessing the internet on its own and racking up data charges. Had to take it back to verizon and have them uninstall some software. To this day it still tries to do things on its own.
That's why they call it a smartphone.

Call me crazy, but I thought Android was made by Google... An American company. :p Perhaps he meant Sense, but I have never heard of that being anything but an in-house HTC product.

I wouldn't put too much stock in whatever your source has to say after hearing that.

I don't... just thought it was an interesting take on the lack of a release at least a new and different story.

Thanks, didnt read it that intensively. The idea sounds promising, I would imagine Verizon would want to steal any thunder it could from a Google N1 announcement with an announcement about the Incredible. I cant remember if any of the other carriers had made announcements pre-N1 release.

Not sure why VZW would want to steal thunder from Google and the N1. Verizon isn't selling the device, true, but they lose money selling handsets anyway. What the make money with is data plans and contracts, both of which the N1 will provide.

I'm loving the demographics of this message board. I wish we could find out where everyone was from, and the average age. I'm surprised at the amount of people here that aren't kids!

To me all these touchscreen phones are getting pretty plain. Like the HD2, that's a box with a giant screen, and that's it. The phone's design isn't as important as that gorgeous display. That said, I like that HTC is adding some style in unusual places such as the red inside/accent buttons. The Droid has some gold accents which aren't bad but its not my favorite phone.

As far as HDMI out on a phone goes, I can't imagine a scenario where I'd use the phone over some other device. If I was somewhere, say didn't have internet, my xbox/ps3, laptop, and I felt like streaming netflix or something to a tv, then maybe at that point I'd use that feature. That would also require me to carry around the HDMI cable, that TV to have an HDMI input, the miniHDMI > HDMI cable or converter, my phone charger, and would also mean that I wouldn't be using my phone during this viewing. But that is a rare, rare occasion. Any other time I feel as if I'd have a better means to watch. To me the beauty of the handset is being able to watch these things on the go, not on a TV. Why would I want to take a MOBILE device and pair it with my TV, I feel like I have enough devices for that already, not to mention the incredibly limited storage space on a phone (32gb? vs. potential TB's). That's also trusting the streaming quality of Netflix over VZW. There's just a lot of IF's to that scenario....

but in the end my view is always, why not at least have the option (as long as its not sacrificing other features/functions). :)

I agree completely. I feel like phones are starting to add this in simply as a luxury feature to jack up the price. Does it sound cool that your phone has hdmi out with the possibility of 720p playback? Hell yes! Is it practical and worth the extra money? Hell no!

I think that depends on how you define kids.

I'm turning 30 this year, but I know some people would still consider me a kid....

I have movies on my ipod touch that I've converted to mp4. They take up about 500MB each. Would be nice to output that to a TV when I travel. However, I envision something a little different that could be done with the HDMI port. Say you buy a slingbox and get slingplayer mobile (when they finally release it for Android). How great would it be to basically travel with your phone and an hdmi cable in your suitcase as the only necessary equipment to watch your home cable/FIOS/satellite TV rather than relying on whatever the hotel, or a relative, might have.

Just a reminder today is Good Friday. People aren't working today even if they do have work. it's the holiday. I would say expect news on Monday.

I start my new job monday too! yay at job!

I completely agree. Sense, and the sexyness that is sleek black with red accents etc. It's just one of those phones people will stop you and ask what it is, or ask you if they can play with it. I was never a fan of the Droid looks, although from what I can tell the Shadow does look better, but it still has a keyboard and that to me still looks toyish.

HDMI isn't a deal breaker for me either, just something I'd use... I'll get by with just having it on my laptop for now ;)

Hey everybody -

I am a long time lurker and this is my first post. I have an LG Dare and it has served me well, but I want to upgrade to Android. I was extremely close (in the store, waiting to see a rep) to getting the Moto Droid back in November but decided to wait for something similar (meaning Android, awesome huge screen) but without the clunky and unnecessary keyoard. I heard something like that was coming (Passion, Bravo, etc) and eventually stumbled onto this forum and have been reading it non-stop for about 3 weeks. A lot of you guys and gals are really funny.

In response to the quote above, I just wanted to point out that from what I have read, the Shadow does not have a keyboard. A lot of people are getting the Shadow and the possible Droid 2 confused. I don't mean to call anybody out for a mistake in my first post - just trying to clear up some confusion :)

I can't wait for the Incredible!

I sense Verizon has never been too enthusiastic about this whole N1 thing, anyway, what with Google handling all the sales. Maybe that's why all along they've been simultaneously developing the Incredible.

After all, besides me, who else is going to be so enthusiastic about buying a phone they've never touched?

Case in point, I was in NYC last weekend and saw a T-Mobile store and wanted to show my wife the N1. Oops, stupid me! You have to buy it from Google. What the hell kind of marketing campaign is that?

Hey Keebler, I grew up in Livermore. How long have you been there?!
