Ok, for the three of you..

As soon as you boot into recovery, Use the volume button to scroll through the list thrice...

Press the volume up button to keep scrolling.. Once you reach the last option at the bottom, keep pressing the button and you will go to the first option.. continue scrolling and once you complete scrolling thrice, You will see the text "Back button enabled". Thats it. You now have a working CWM...:)


A kind request to all of you.. I have spend three weeks day in and day out trying to get this working.. Please do not post it elsewhere or distribute. We still have a problem with MD5 generation. I am working on it now. I will release it in the forum once I get it sorted out..

bro its working,
about the key mappings the selection key is only enabled after couple of key pressings of volume up and down buttons

after couple of vol + and vol - it displays back button enabled and there after only, selection key(power key) works, now checking backup,almost done.....


have to check usb mount option,flash zip option, i will check them once i get access to pc and report it back

gud work dude !!!

WORKING. Amazing itzmiandy. so its officially cracked. i did a nandroid backup and it worked. amazing. bro.

So itzmiandy you did it yet again. awesome bro. should be proud.

yup sure....and i would also like to know what u did to port/create?

create a guide on how to port/create for micromax mobiles it would be helpful for some other new mobile models upcoming these days and also for someone who likes to learn and try things like me....:)

sd-ext is not backedup during backup mate, just to inform

backup can be done(without md5), but without md5 there is no way to restore it in any recovery....

so its similar to what u have said
ie backup and restore will not work,thats it

a custom rom ?
if im not wrong ur going to flash other devices rom to mmx a87?
if so you are trying to brick your device.
remember you dont even have the backup of the stock rom.....
so dont flash any other devices rom
if u still trying to flash a custom rom, your device will be bricked and u willl need to take it to the mmx customer service center and they will say its rooted and warranty is void

actually we have stock rom and stock recovery. so i guess nothing to worry.

I was hoping to flash a rom which i have modded a little with cygwin. ( I used the stock rom and just added busybox and a few option of cygwin) this is just to check if the signature verification has got disabled or not. and I believe this is crucial.

Just waiting for itzmiandy to give me a nod.

I second this. Totally. all credits belong to the well deserving itzmiandy.

please show some sense of encouragement and please give all due credit to itzmiandy. He said he would crack it and he did it.

Honestly this would give a new dimension to micromax phones. think of it the only complaint we have is not being able to tweak and customize. The hardware shortfalls can be overcomed with tweaking. So i guess itzmiandy has provided a new dimension.

Now when you try a backup it says that MD5 cannot be generated.. I am trying to fix it but still I find an answer here is the fix.

1. Make a backup using the recovery (Ignore the error)
2. Use 'ADB Shell'
You should see #

3. Navigate to the cwm folder on your sd card..
# cd /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/xxxx-xx-xx.xx.xx.xx

4. Run this command
# md5sum *img > nandroid.md5

Wait for a while, till you see # again.


Thats it.. You will now be able to restore your backup..

You can now try out any custom ROM that you want. :-)

yaa, currently i used these only, and plz try to solve this bug

also mount sd-ext is missing in mount options

Even though I have sold the phone but I am still following this section and came here to congratulate mandy for this remarkable feet
Hope go see first customs rom soon
Also I would Congrats members who have shown faith and tested the beta recovery on there device

Hi guys, I have mmxA87 which is unrooted and its not possible to root it becuz something is faulty inside it,may be rom itself or something else.Anyway I would like to flash cwm and then stock rom again over it. So pl. provide step by step in details. My fastboot is working fine and I have all working options in stock cwm.Waiting for guide.
