@ Tonyracing "I don't believe you would be able to get 720 HD through a USB."

I figured 720 wouldn't be possible, just thought that you would be able to get A/V from the USB cable....Now that I think about it, I don't thinks it's possible.

Thanks for the response

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't a lot of the HD Tuners for computers, USB connected, and they would have to be able to transfer an HD signal.

Well my "righteous indignation" approach hasn't exactly brought earth shattering results (for those who don't what what I'm talking about see the now-defunct "unofficial incredible thread", I'm not going to re-post here). Here's the response so far...

"I'm sorry to hear about your dis-satisfaction with your services through us. My name is XXX and I received your email regarding your concerns about any upcoming services or devices in comparison to other carriers and we understand your concern.

I have forwarded your feedback to our development and marketing group, who handles feedback and suggestions such as what you've provided. If your feedback may need more details or specific information our development and marketing group will be contacting you regarding your email.

doubt it.

It was my pleasure to forward your feedback for you about services we offer. We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Verizon Wireless. Should you have any further questions, please reply to this email.

Sincerely,

Maybe the "development and marketing group" will be more offended and feel obliged to defend their honor! :D

i doubt it

That definitely would be a convenient feature to have - especially on vacation. My question is, with wifi connectivity within a home and so many devices being connected wirelessly to a central router, I wonder how long it is before Android (if they don't have it already) has the capabilities of sharing multimedia to devices within the network? For instance, without the need for an HDMI cable I can stream HD quality movies between my DVR, my home computer, my PS3, and my laptop. If I had an application that allowed me to do that with my phone as well, then I wouldn't necessarily need an HDMI port - at least within my home network.

You can use TwonkyServer Mobile to stream media from your phone to PS3, Xbox, computer, and any other DLNA/UPnP devices (including some TVs).

There might be others too. I haven't looked extensively but what you would be looking for is a UPnP or DLNA server to run on the phone.

USB 3.0 could for sure. USB 2.0 can as well but you need a huge buffer.

I had the HD-DVD for xbox which hooks up to USB and played 1080i just fine. That had a 8MB buffer though using proprietary hardware.

I don't believe you would be able to get 720 HD through a USB.

I'm curious. i have the omnia now and it takes about 5minutes for this forum to load using opera browser. do you think the incredible will be faster?

That's correct. You can't transfer audio or video via the USB jack on your TV. You could, however, view pictures.

Or they could be using it to play video shot with the phone.

You could also say that they should charge more if a phone has a headphone jack, because you're more likely to stream music. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that I would be surprised if they charged more.

I guess I wasn't clear. If people find, to their delight, that they can stream hi-def video over the Verizon network (and HI-def video is a LOT more data than music) the demand on the network will increase. I'm not talking about hooking your phone up to a TV to play a movie you have stored there, I'm talking about using a service like ORB, where you stream your home TV over Verizon's network to your cell phone, which is hooked up to the HDTV at your friend's house. (He has a Blu-ray player and an HDTV but doesn't pay for cable.) If it could keep up the stream megabytes will be a drop in the bucket. When "Unlimited" usage becomes too high it won't be unlimited anymore, and prices will go up.

LOOKEY WHAT I FOUND!!! I did a little digging today and found that the cellebrite machine needed to be updated... no big deal. So after the update I checked for our baby and low and behold!!! IT WAS THERE!!!. So what does this mean??? It means that WE ARE CLOSE TO RELEASE!!!! Just another nail in the coffin. here is the pic for proof...
*Grabs face with both hands and plants a HUGE kiss on the lips* YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD! I KNEW IT WAS YOU :D

What they are saying is correct. However, that is because they are severely shrinking the resolution and video size to save space on their phone. If you aren't as worried about space (say you only keep a couple movies on there at a time) you can keep them in a higher resolution and they will display better on a larger screen.

I have all of my dvds in .iso format which is the full video exactly as you see it on the dvd. The only problem with it is that VLC media player is the only player I know that actually plays the .iso format. I doubt I can use it on android right now. There are other formats that preserve video quality pretty well though.
correct me if I'm wrong....

(and sorry if I'm getting OT on this as this is moot since apparently the Incredible won't have HDMI, so I promise this is my last post pertaining to this!!)

...but if we were to purchase a 32 Gb micro SD card for the phone and just keep a few videos stored on there at a time, there shouldn't be any problem in storing them in their native resolution and replaying them in their full glory on a HDTV?

Oper MINI 5 loads it in like 20 seconds or less and renders it pretty well. No flash support but it's teh fastest browser I've found for the Omnia. You can find it on Opera's website and they recently developed a native Windows mobile App so no Java needs to be installed first.

Store employees know nothing. I doubt an entire country of minimum wage employees are keeping this thing under wraps for fear of losing such a well paying job.......lol At a MINIMUM, they would be telling thier family and friends. There are no more secrets in the age of the internet. Ask Tiger Woods.

It is a common misconception that reps don't make money...sales reps (not customer service reps) are commissioned. To stay employed u must hit 75% of ur sales bucket to stay employed. At that, u will be making a little over 40k. I was good so I made 50k. I had a friend who routine made 55k per year.

I know u guys think the job is easy, but I have had a lot of jobs and this was easily the most stressful. It is fast hard work and u r constantly being asked to do more #'s...make more $. And the hours are horrifically long. Hard especially for those with families.

Nice find but that's doesn't really give us any better estimate than anything we've heard before does it? I believe the Droid showed up quite a while before release.

Interesting that they have it listed as the Incredible and along with the Droid Eris.....maybe they aren't gonna switch the name.

That's what my original thought was...but am not so sure...I'll look into that. If it's possible, then the 720 HDMI output is not so hot. Be back in a bit.

My applogies....I would by no means say the job is easy. My main point is there is no way a company could keep that many employees quiet.

I was thinking earlier if a phone like the Incredible could make my other gadgets redundant. I have a Zune HD for portable media and I doubt the Incredible can top the beautiful UI and ease of use. I have a Canon SD790IS and I doubt the Incredible can even come close to the picture quality of it. And there is no way the Incredible can touch the browsing speed and keyboard of a laptop. But the Incredible is powerful enough that I could leave the other gadgets behind for casual music listening/picture taking/web browsing/ etc. I hate carrying hundreds of dollars worth of electronics with me when they could easily be stolen.

Redundant? Eventually. For the time being it can "eat away" at the amount of time you would use those other electronics.

I don't think the Incredible or another smart phone will ever replace a good camera as there just isn't room for quality optics, CCD/CMOS, processing, etc. If it does it won't be for another 20+ years. The Incredible won't be used for taking gorgeous shots of Glacier NP but it will be quite useful for every day photos when you need a camera in a pinch (unlike my treo 650's).

As for movie viewing, I like the Android UI, especially the Sense UI. The Incredible won't have the storage space of your Zune but it won't be harder to use IMO.

Of course a laptop has a better keyboard but that is why I mentioned docking stations.

I'm not sure about the Droid part, but it helps reinforce that its coming sooner than later...Like some try to argue that the phone hasn't even been released by HTC, and that Verizon doesn't even know if they are going to pick it up, this for the most part shows this baby is coming to town
