Didn't the testman site have a promo up for the Incredible briefly? I thought someone posted a screenshot yesterday?? I saw it on the Internet so it must be true, right???

a couple of thoughts on this...
One change I feel Google should make going forward with their new phone marketing campaign (& hire), is to have a display unit in all the carrier stores that will allow it. Now, some carriers may not agree to put out display units that they can't sell directly, but some would. I think that would drive their sales higher. In addition, if they could negotiate with the carriers to put a Google kiosk in stores, customers would be able to order right after getting to touch and try out the N1, N2, etc.
My guess on what appears to be Verizon's lack of enthusiasm for getting the N1 available asap is one or both of; (1) they are requiring that certain bugs be fixed before they allow the phone on their network - a reputation thing, or (2) they don't want to make it too good of a situation for Google and have them do extremely well due to the fear of potential direct competition in the future. These carriers are leery as to where Google is going in the wireless business. If they help them achieve certain milestones, will Google just turnaround and thanks - now we're going it on our own...? Kind of a love/hate relationship...?
All just theory and speculation on my part...

Hey everybody -
I am a long time lurker and this is my first post. I have an LG Dare and it has served me well, but I want to upgrade to Android. I was extremely close (in the store, waiting to see a rep) to getting the Moto Droid back in November but decided to wait for something similar (meaning Android, awesome huge screen) but without the clunky and unnecessary keyoard. I heard something like that was coming (Passion, Bravo, etc) and eventually stumbled onto this forum and have been reading it non-stop for about 3 weeks. A lot of you guys and gals are really funny.
In response to the quote above, I just wanted to point out that from what I have read, the Shadow does not have a keyboard. A lot of people are getting the Shadow and the possible Droid 2 confused. I don't mean to call anybody out for a mistake in my first post - just trying to clear up some confusion
I can't wait for the Incredible!

I'm beginning to think I'm the only one out there who strongly dislikes Dolphin. Sure, it has multitouch, but it's very unpolished.
Stock browser will definitely have multitouch since this is running Sense (and the stock 2.1 phones have multitouch too).
Stock browser > all others for the time being. That could all change after further development of Fennec, though!

I don't know how others feel, but I would never buy a phone on the internet. I like the fact that when I buy a phone at a verizon store that they will service or exchange my phone right there. Personal service... I love it!
not me. I wouldn't a problem buying online at all. I can see why many folks would, but I spend A LOT of time looking at specs, features, measurements, etc, that I would be comfortable doing it. Now, if you didn't have at least a 14-day return (no costs!) policy, I would not be one of the firsts. I would wait to read other's reviews and comments.
I buy so much stuff online these days, it's just no big deal for me.

This is why I want an android phone because it appears that Google is providing a lot of freedom to developers to do as they wish with total competition.
MS makes you use there browser and Apple makes you use their lousy safari browser.
Android also has a larger app market than MS does. I hate apple so iphone isn't an option.
I want to be able to walk in a verizon store and upgrade my phone to a smart phone. Hence my excitement for the incredible.
I plan on using the phone as my gps, mp3 player, pda, and of course phone.

Alright, everyone have a great weekend, I'm on my way out the office door to see the soon to be misses. I've got a 4hr drive ahead of me, so prob. won't be back on until Sunday evening. Lets hope for good things, maybe the Easter Bunny will leave us a late present that isn't rabbit crap and resembles an Incredible.

But for a small commuter school, just making the tournament twice in 5 years is a pretty good accomplishment, right?

I don't buy all that much online... but after waiting for now a full year with my new every 2 ready.. i know this phone is what I want. I plan on ordering it the second it's available and not looking back.not me. I wouldn't a problem buying online at all. I came from a school in the Summit League.....South Dakota State University.
I've been lurking for a couple of months now - here's the first official post:
Finally couldn't take it anymore after several visits to local stores where I, like many of you, have been unable to get any concrete information. So (why didn't I think of this earlier), I had someone in our IT group send an email to our Verizon sales rep about this phone that is making us all crazy. He stated that he doesn't have a release date, that it is "in testing" and he would put us on the list so that when he can take orders, we'll be first in line.
For various reasons, that does me no good, because corporately we're ditching our Blackberry Server and are requiring everyone to go to their own mobile device - this month! So I called the man, explained my situation and let him know that I needed something more concrete - that if Verizon wasn't in a position to provide worthy competitors to the EVO and iPhone, that I simply had to tell my employees to explore other options. I told him that I understand he probably doesn't have specific dates, but should have an idea, and if this phone is coming soon, he should tell me to "take a deep breath."
His response? "Take a deep breath." But then - and this is where it makes me crazy - he tells me that he knows they have the phones in the warehouse! Where do you think he got that bit of April Fool's goodness? Exactly...hold on, it gets better...
He said that he talked to a QA tester yesterday that has had the phone in his hands for TWO MONTHS!?!? Based on that conversation, he suggests that the rumors circulating for 3rd to 4th week of April release fall in line with what QA is saying.
So what did I learn? Well, I am more hopeful about an April reality now...maybe foolishly so. I also feel like I'm in the middle of this crazy information time-warp where the rumors (and April Fool's jokes) are actually being quoted by Verizon employees as fact - off the record of course.
I'm not sure I can make it another three weeks...

I agree with you that the N1, though it may not ever be sold in stores, they should at least have a test unit, or Google kiosk. It's not to much to ask for consumers to buy online, or I'm sure people have had phones shipped to them from their carrier etc. VZW could help you purchase the phone, through Google online, and have it shipped to you. I don't think customers would be that weird about it.
Why isn't the N1 available...I think the multitouch screen issue is a big reason. I haven't checked to see if that has been solved yet, but I would bet that VZW doesn't want to sell a phone like the N1, which lets face it is almost strictly targeting the type of people on this forum, the type of people who care about specs, and who would most certainly care about the screen issue with multitouch issues.
Are they afraid Google will eventually just turn on them and start offering their own service, no. Not a chance, yet. They support Droid full on, the N1, is just another phone running android. Verizon sells 3 of those already.
I would say the direct competition between releasing the N1 and the Incredible in the same time period would make it tough to sell N1 units. Maybe Google is holding out...the N1 and the Incredible are 2 similar devices and it would be hard for sales to sell one against the other (and the Incredible being in stores would mean it would probably win).

I have seen ORU play Oakland on a few occasions.
