The Note 2 is truly amazing and worth the wait!

They almost always side with the buyer in cases like that. eBay is useless if there are no buyers and sellers are a dime a dozen. Even if it means losing a seller, they'll always side with the buyer and bend the seller over a barrel.

I've even heard of some cases where the Seller gets screwed over by the buyer. The seller will ship the actual unit in the auction. Then the buyer will "replace" it with their own broke model or some other similar phone and say the seller sent them the wrong phone. Then the buyer will file a complaint with the seller. In cases like this, the buyer is supposed to mail back the item in question so all they do is ship their bogus/broken phone back to the seller and provide the tracking number as proof of shipment. Once the seller realizes they have the wrong phone, there's not much they can do at that point. PayPal/eBay will simply see that the item was returned and then credit the buyer back for the auctions costs/payments.

In my case, that almost happened to me, except the buyer didn't even return the iphone and all items sold. Complete scam job, which is why I don't plan on selling a phone through ebay ever again... Lol

If they send the broken phone back it will have the wrong IMEI number on it. All these scams are possible but ebay logging the IMEI numbers of sold phones makes them much, much harder.

Yes, and I completely support that. In my case, the buyer sent back an item, but it wasn't even the iPhone I sold. Luckily, I had written records of every single conversation I had with the buyer, as well as taking video of my opening the package I received back from the buyer.

eBay covered me under seller protection, but what's awful for ebay is that they end up in a position where they'll cover the seller...but it comes out of their own pocket. All eBay can do at that point is investigate the buyer and/or block the buyer from ever doing business on ebay. At that point, they've already gotten away with their scam.

And even worse, these buyers can still sell unlocked iPhones for parts and make money off of the transaction. So, not only do they get a refund on the purchase that they made, but they also are able to make money on top of that.

Actually sometimes ebay leave themselves wide open to scams. They were, until recently, allowing sellers to sell "knockoff" copies of Iphones and Galaxy phones but I don't know if they have clamped down on this. The knockoff phones presumably won't have IMEI numbers in the correct series for the real phones.

I am walking to the Singapore MTR right now. I am going to the M1 shop. I realy need to know if the GN 2 works or is it Rubish like the first one. So far everyone who planned to buy one changed thier mind within 5 min of testdriving my GN 1.

Ok well nobody can confirm the reliability of the GN2. I have too much bad history with my GN1. I am leaveing the M1 store now with my new iPhone.

All the slick design features in the world are not of any value if you can't trust you device to work when you need it.

Sorry Samsung, you loose.

Thanx anyway

To each his own; life is too short for either bad wine or a bad phone!! (Though my Note is great now that I have removed Samsung's bloatware as per one of your earlier posts)

I am curious about the internal dialog against rooting as mentioned by Phredog. The phone is no longer the property of Samsung once it is purchased. Have they put crap in the phone to keep us purchasing hardware every six months??? Is this why they hired the guy from Cyanogenmod...to PREVENT us from rooting???

I have rolled with my rooted device for the duration of my 2yr contract and am on the latest version of Jelly Bean. I only consented to put that great phone aside because of the specs of the GN2. But if it is prevented from being rooted, I want no part of it. Was Phredog's error msg re: rooted devices, a movie software prohibiting measure (which I doubt) or was it from the phone manufacturer? Any insider info?

Every time I said anything good abouthine GN it failed me a few days or maybe a week later. I had to eat my words.

I really really tried to like that phone. I lived with it for nine months and most ofbthe time it was in my sock drawer.

Just a few days ago my new girlfriend was in tears because she could not reach me. It seems I forgot to power cycle my GN and it lost its mind yet again.

I am 46. I have a job. I work too hard to be bothered with worrying about if my phone will spontaneously stop working, or will the alarm fail to wake me. My wind up Westclock was made in 1918 and I still wakes me if I bother to wind it before bed. But can I trust this $600 phone to do the same? Yes but only if I power cycle it before bed.

I have to keep service on my old Nokia because I can not trust my $600 phone to receive calls. Sorry but my IQ I only a little above average. Maybe if I was Mr Spock I could see the logic in paying for two phones, and "massaging" the so called smart phone to keep it going.

Perhaps features like reliability are obsolete and must stand aside so that prefered features can take center stage. If I was to be called on again for military service I hope that I can have a proven rifle. Younger folks can have the "cool" rifle that jams every fourth shot. Let's hope it comes with an equally "cool" body bag.

Good luck

There are several GN2 users here. So far, I don't hear any complaints. And my question regarding rooting seems thus far to only have affected you on a GN1. Other than that, I really don't see anyone here at least, having negative issues that might be considered deal-breakers. Is it too early or are you GN2 owners really happy with your purchase? I am truly interested in feedback.

I can personally confirm the reliability of the GN2 having had it since last Tuesday. You have my word as an English gentleman.

that sounds really bad...

if you are rooted and running a custom ROM... then I am going to guess that you need to look for a better ROM.. more stable.. NOT Beta.
and you should wipe everything!!!! clean that phone out!

once you have flashed a GOOD STABLE ROM.. DONT load any apps. run it as is for at least a week and see how the phone performs. if all is good.. then start loading your apps fresh from the play-store. only a few apps at a time. keeping notice of when your phone (if your phone) starts to fail you again.

if it fails after a Fresh Flash... then you might have hardware issues.
and you should try to get that resolved through warranty.

you had a bad / faulty phone and plenty of N1 users suggested you returned it as did I.

I had the note 1, it was excellent and some areas of the note 1 are better than the note 2 (width of screen and imho better sensitivity), and some areas of the note 2 are better than note 1.

Note 2 is quicker, seems to be more reliable in terms of phone functions, battery is better. Its hugely annoys me that the keyboard isnt as good as the N1. Its no where near as sensitive and the width narrows the keys compared to the note 2.

This is my second due to a camera fault on the first and they were both the same.

This will be my last Samgung post.

I wanted to say that the phone was not rooted or modified in any way. I have another friend in Singapore who bought the Asia version of the GN and had a similar, but not as bad experience.

I know people who bought them when AT&T offered them in he USA. It least two took thiers back in less than a day.

I spoke to customer support. Samsung would not honor the Eruope model in the USA.

I wish I had bought it in Singapore because Singapore has a lemon law for electronics.

I demonstrated the stylus function while waiting on a staff meeting to start. Did that ever get some laughs! I let everyone try it. We decided that Samsug has poor quality control.

The first thing I did on my iPhone was the most important thing; I turned Sri off. Samsung are you reading this?.... Do not make the user wait for a software update then force him to go into settings-applications-all-scroll-force stop-disable.

My iPhone woke me this morning. I could never count on my GN to do that. Incidentally my GN failed to wake me again this morning. I bet it froze again. Thanks Samsung I can always count on you when I want to be late.

My girlfriend is not happy because she liked the quality of the camera over the one in her iPhone 4. She can keep it. In a week she will hate it.

Good luck all.

Keeping in mind that the negative commentary is about the GN1. While we sympathize with previous version ills etc, it is important to hear from all sides of the GN2 owners. It is quite possible that the GN2 was born BECAUSE they realized their errors with GN1. Perhaps? idk.

There will be so many Phablet players on the field this Christmas (Samsung, Google, LG) that having real reviews from actual users is vital to making an intelligent buying decision.

I for one am hoping that Swype does NOT come standard on the Samsung so that it will remain a candidate for the Swype Beta which is updated often, whereas the stock version is not.

My Galaxy Note I has been rubbish since day one. Did all this stuff get fixed on the GN II?

"Voice talk" would pop up all the time. 'Voice Talk" was nothing but a problem that did not function as advertised. I was freed of it once ICS came out.

The Bluetooth headset drivers are hard coded to work with "Voice talk". It would never work with Pandora, Skype, or anything else. Only the basic functionality works.

The pen has never worked. If I get it within 3 cm of the glass, I get strings of characters without ever tapping. I tossed it in the rubbish bin.

The phone looses its "marbles", and must be restarted every few days.

Sometimes the battery refuses to charge unless the phone is cold started.

The phone looses all connectivity with the network and must be restarted. I have used four different carriers. The problem persists.

When I rent movies I always get one of two messages, 'Can't fetch license' or 'can not play on a rooted device'. My phone is NOT rooted. I even downloaded a utility to verify that it did not come rooted.

I have friends with the same phone. They are seeing much of the same problems.

My girlfriend is Asian and her hands are very small. Her iPhone is very reliable, but I can not use it. I am a American with German DNA so my hands are huge (I live in Singapore for political reasons).

I need the large screen, and Samsung is the only phone for me until a more reliable manufacturer comes along with a larger phone.

I am not here to rip on Samsung or Android, I just need a phone that works! I acknowledge that the GN has a good looking display, and good audio, but I favor reliability.

With all the issues you had I suggest trying before you buy. I hate for you to be equally disappointed in the Note 2.

On another note (no pun intended) did you ever consider a factory refresh or exchange?

Are some of you serious? Out of the many thousands sold there will be a few duds. And sorry but if you buy a phone from a different market then try to use it elsewhere why should they honour the warranty - I don't believe they are wordwide warranties - which is a bit daft but still!

Also there was nothing wrong with the n1. Had more problems with n2 tbh but thats the risk in being an early adopter.

Let's look at the reality of the situation. You took the chance of buying an international version (maybe through ebay?), and they gave you a broken one. End of story. And because they were not willing to jump through hoops to do you a favor (like make international calls, and ship you a replacement internationally because they don't deal with international models because they don't have parts for them), you are here to spread negative propaganda on a different device. Isn't this a forum for a device you don't own? Just stating the facts.

i disagree with you..

If I buy a product that has 1 yr warranty from the Manufacture... from a legit retail store in USA... and i travel to France.. and the device dies. Why would it not be warrantied? I have never heard of a geographic limit to warranties.

as long as i did not abuse the product...why can I not send it to the manufacture...

I just checked the warranty card for my international Galaxy Note 2 and it says "Samsung authorised dealers and authorised service centres in other EC countries will comply with the warranty on the terms issued to purchasers in the country concerned"

I just checked the warranty card for my international Galaxy Note 2 and it says "Samsung authorised dealers and authorised service centres in other EC countries will comply with the warranty on the terms issued to purchasers in the country concerned"

Operative words are:
1. authorized dealers/service centers
2. in other EC countries (European Union (EU, EC) ) No Singapore...
3. purchasers in the country concerned

It would seem that as long as the phone was purchased at an authorized dealer - That all authorized dealers and service centers in EC countries must comply with the warranty from your country.
