Just saw this a few moments ago. Seems Apple is trying to pee in the corn flakes again.
Verizon Nexus One Release Update: Import Restrictions To U.S.
Hopefully their suit fails. Wonder what would happen if some of us users started filing suit against Apple for holding up progress and preventing fair competition by trying to create a smartphone monopoly. I wonder if a few hundred folks did that if they'd get the idea?
(just pondering, don't take my idea too seriously, but I am really tired of Apple stomping on any competition they face. Competition means better, less expensive things for us consumers.)
I established my credentials with an actual photo of proof. I have nothing to prove to anyone. The photo I submitted is 100% real.
There's been 2 pics from separate sources which is why we assume its confirmed. Did you do a manual update or did it ask you for an update? Maybe said update hasn't been pushed to your machine yet.
Just a thought.
I did a manual, maybe they're rolling the update out slowly but there's no point to do that, if there's 2 separate pics than maybe I'll try again tomorrow. It said there was a new update available from last night, early morning, like 4/02 at 2AM, but no Incredible from update... Maybe mine is just being ******ed
They are two different photos, the one that's close up is even more in focus than the other picture. It's pretty obvious they are two different pictures. Those 2 pics appear to be one in the same just cropped differently.
Welcome, Mom. Thank you for the info. Just a request, when you post, would you mind using the regular font? I'm 51 and need reading glasses for small things. Regular font is ok for me here, but I couldn't read the font you selected. Thanks!
Steven
FYI..............
On Wednesday I signed another two year contract with Verizon and got the Eris (loved the functionality of the Droid, but hated how big it was - looked too clunky for a female). Needless to say I enjoy playing on the Eris BUT (and a big BUT here) the battery life is TERRIBLE.
I showed my neighbor my new phone (he is a major gadget geek) and his comment was, "Why did you buy that? Verizon has some new phones coming out anytime!" I immediately called the manager at the Verizon store (he was the one who helped me with my Eris). I explained the battery life, etc and then asked about the Incredible. I told him that I wanted to return my phone. He said hang onto it for a couple of weeks and swap it when they were available. I said "Are you sure it will be in before my 30 days are up?" His response was, "YES!" He said to give it a couple of weeks and to play around with the Eris in the meantime (I came from a BB and am not very technically savvy).
Well thats interesting because they are after the HTC phones namely running Android and even more specific probably sense. They can't hault all HTC phone imports because HTC does make other phones that don't run android (which is what Apple is suing over). At least that's how I have read the situation. Most of the patent infringements are towards Android, and since its not against Google, I assume they are attacking Sense.
I wouldn't worry about that situation just yet. When it gets to a point of concern, you can bet Google will step in and defend their open platform.
Actually, it's all about Google, and Android. The NY Times had an excellent article about 3 wks ago on the Apple-Google relationship. Revealed some inside info about their whole history, including a quote of Steve Jobs saying "if you implement multi-touch, I'll sue you!"... read at the link if interested.
I for one, believe there is ZERO chance that this import ban that Apple is requesting has any chance of success. Not worried in the least...
I just talked to my friend who is an area manager with Verizon in Hawaii and he did confirm that the incredible is in the warehouse, but he doesn't know which one. He told me the delay in releasing the incredible is do to the Google N1 phone and Verizon has been bickering with Google about carrying the N1 in the store and going back and forth. He said it would be released soon and he will be in his store on Tuesday and will check the system and call me with any news. He will call me when the phone is going to be released too so I can get one from him.
He also said that he has the Eris and has not been happy with it and is also waiting for the Incredible.
I want a freaking phone..........we can dig up all this info but not a release date lol
I appreciate all the work, but it's only clarifying like the "within two weeks" thing............is it that difficult for someone to maybe know someone? that knows the release date and is willing to share it with us?
pwettyy pweaseee
btw was shopping the whole day so yea, i missed a lot but read all the important stuff with a lot of thanks.
Not to name names or try to flame anyone, I just find it odd that the majority of the people who get positive news (i.e. just talked to a manager/csr/friend-who-knew-a-guy-that-dated-a-girl) have a relatively low post count or are "first time , long-timers" the cynic in me is telling me to take what they say at it's face value but the Steven58 in me wants to throw them a ticker tape parade. Just saying I can't be the only one that feels this way...
Just curious, you pay the extra 20 AND lose your NE2 no? (I have a friend that works for VZW, and I believe this is what she told me - and thus made it not worth upgrading every year)I tried to post this earlier. Damn Storm.
Anyway, I spoke to a new source a while ago. An assistant retail manager who knew nothing about the Incredible.
But more importantly, I wanted to remind everyone of the annual upgrade.
For those of u who are not eligible for a regular every 20 months upgrade, don't forget that the primary line on a plan of 39.99 or higher is eligible for an annual upgrade every 12 months. So if ur family all got new phones a year ago today, you should have ONE line that is eligible to upgrade right away. The annual upgrade costs $20 in addition to the regular sale price of the device.
An annual upgrade will erase your current contract and start an new 24 mth contract (but of course we know that line will be eligible in 12 months).
PLUS...DON'T FORGET if u have gotten the motoDroid or the Eris to get u by until the Incredible appears, just go back to your old phone. Your money will be refunded and your contract will be erased. Then u will be eligible for the Incredible when it is released. No need to exchange or keep some phone u r not satisfied with. GO BACK TO UR OLD DEVICE!
