Root [CWM][ROOT][GB ONLY] Clockworkmod Recovery for the LG Spectrum 4G

Unfortunately we don't even have a fully operational ICS yet... Keep an eye on the breath of fresh air thread for updates on the CM9 and AOKP the dev are hard at work on.

Anybody do a nandroid restore? I tried and i stuck on restoring system for about 25 minutes before i did a battery pull....any ideas? Or did i jump the gun?

im dumb and missing something. Clicking on the 6.0.1.1 link under touch recoveries does not download a file, but instead opens up a web page with a bunch of jibberish code. What am i doing wrong?

Why would we want to mod the ICS recovery? This was made from source code and beats anything that would be made from modding a non-source recovery.

Not sure, but all I know if I push the current CWM recovery the security disables the boot up and bricks the phone. There must be something in the stock recovery that passes the security check that we need to figure out.

Its signed. Modifying the the stock ics recovery will break that signature. And guess what that means? 'Security Error'.

Modifying the stock ics boot.img does the same thing, breaks the signature.

There is no way around it yet. We should know what we're talking about since TDM/Neph/jcase/and I have all been messing with this since the leak was discovered.

I am hoping to have a little guidance before I continue messing around with my phone and completely screw it up. A while back I rooted my phone when it had V4 installed. Now that ICS is out I am trying to get it back to stock so I can take the OTA update. I used ROM manager so CWM could be installed. Following the instructions here: I was able to get it back to V6 stock. I attempted to apply the update only to find out CWM (non touch) was still installed.

I found this article here which redirected me to here.

I followed the directions to flash the stock ROM. I then took the OTA update only to find out CWM was still installed. Now I am stuck in the CWM loop and was wondering if I should follow the instructions here.

The directions to get out of the CWM loop state its for OTA updates going from V4 to V6. My OS is on V6 so what changes do I need to make? Is this the correct step to take? Thanks in advance for the help I just don't want to mess things up more than they already are.

The boot loop fix is universal, no matter what version your one.

As far as CWM, the old instructions are misleading and I need to correct them. You really want to be on CWM 6.0.1.0 or above. You can get this by installing CWM from RomManager.

As for restoring stock recovery, you probably skipped the second step of the restoring v4 or v6 thread. The first step restores the OS, the second step (flashing the .zip restore file) restores your recovery.

Hopefully this clears up the issues you were having.

I used Ethernet and got:

I get exact same message and I just don't know what to do. When I look @ my SD card, I don't see the CMW folder (i.e. install failed??)

I'm trying to return to pure stock so I can push ICS OTA. I was told to install CWM first then run Neph81's restorer.

Can anyone help me? Also, once I install this, how do I boot into recovery?

Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day!

If you're pushing the v7, you don't need to restore stock recovery. As far as I know, the tool wipes the device and installs the factory recovery and rom. It's the ota that needs the recovery and system apps (it runs a check before installing).

Neph can correct me if I'm wrong. I had cwm on my v6 installed and pushed v7 with no issues.

You won't see the clockworkmod folder unless you've created a backup previously using CWM. Alternatively, I presume you could just add the appropriate folders (SD>clockworkmod>backup) and that would work, but I just created a new backup.

How do I push an update, using a USB connection and LG update manager?
