Root [CWM][ROOT][GB ONLY] Clockworkmod Recovery for the LG Spectrum 4G

Hello, and thanks for all the help so far! I'm starting from a fresh install of V6 Verizon stock, and I'm now trying to root. For me, the shell seems unable to access/change read-only files, even when I run cmd as an administrator in Windows 7. I've checked each time I tried that the phone itself is in debugging mode, under ethernet connection.

Some of the errors include "cannot create /data/local.prop: permission denied", immediately after trying to push exploit, and "rm failed for /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, read-only file system". Is there something simple I missed?

I just recently lost 4G also.

I lost or nuked my 4g only when installing cwm without being unlocked.

If u ever see this, ur screwed as LG put a self destruct script killing the 4g and imei.

I had to get a replacement.

Seriously? It erases the imei? That's pretty lame. It's printed on the phone under the battery, you can restore it. But if you lost all the other settings you're not likely to get them back easily. Especially your aaa key.

I did restore the imei with a tool but phone was never the same even with a .cab restore. 4g was toast. Not sure if the ota ics would nuke it also. Not willing to test it again. Lol

This does not nuke your IMEI. If it did, my IMEI would have been long gone with all the testing I've done. Bad flashes nuke your IMEI and it's a risk you take any time you're doing one. I found .tot flashes to be worse then .cab flashes for what it's worth.

That makes more sense. What partition holds the imei, and is this partition touched with the boot unlocker?

I haven't fully tested it yet, but it has something to do with the radio partition. Now this could mean that the radio partitions have a setting that tells the phone where to read your IMEI from (such as CM9 switches on us), or it could be that the IMEI is also built into these partitions. I'm starting to lean towards option one thou, being as someone confirmed that the LTE onoff tool worked to fix their 4g.

I can't root my phone on Windows 8.....It starts the Daemon and just sits there. Has anyone else tried to root on Windows 8?

Sorry to be a noob but can someone explain what to do after we download the image of 6.0.1.1 CWM? Or can we use the first post's allinone/cwm program.

The all in one takes care of rooting and installing CWM for you. After that, you use your device normally and/or install a custom ROM.
