i have gotten so far as too put a ROM on my phone, but i am not sure if my phone is rooted. I followed the guides on the thread, and everything went okay it seemed, but i went to my phones market to download a root checker and when it installed it said i wasnt rooted, im not sure if its reliable , but i would like some conformation, id appreciate the help, again let me know if you need more info.

what rom did you install? if you flashed a rotoed rom in recovery, then you should be rooted. i have never used a root checker,i always just open a root only app like titanium backup or root explorer... if the su pop up appears asking for permission, you can grant it,and then the app works, then you are rooted :)

if this is not happening, you can install or update superuser by flashing it in recovery.

i like this superuser: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 (download from the link that reads CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip)

There are also a few apps on the Play store that you can download and verify if you are rooted, I will post an Example below.

Root Checker

all time easiest way to find out....
open terminal emulator - type su hit enter
if it prompts you with a # you are rooted
if it prompts you with a $ you aren't

While it takes root to install a recovery to flash a ROM etc.
SOMETIMES SU can be corrupted - or you can download a rom that Doesn't have SU.

I posted an app because that is usually the easiest way for a newd, once you tell them to use commands, or terminal E, then we loose them.

Droid Razr user just installed DROID RAZR Utility XT912 Jellybean -- Windows + Mac + Linux (All in One!) All went well, or so I thought. As told, i selected Ap Fastboot option to flash official JB and wipe all data. Once done, I selected another option, Dan Rosenberg exploit Rasr Blade to root.

Well, I thought all went well. No errors. I then saw Superuser in Apps, and installed titanium. I was asked to provide permissions. i was able to so for Titanium, but not for Voodoo. After reading forums for the past 24 hours, it was suggested that I remove all Superuser and SuperSu apps. Did that, and now Rootchecker tells me that i am not rooted.

Opened a terminal window and I see a $ instead of 3 sign. i am so lost. Can u advise what I should to do instead of banging my head against a wall:-)

One sad and very tired lady! One sad and very hungry husband. I haven't left the PC all day! LOL
