***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

I've always wondered how people like this live their lives, run their businesses, treats others, or have low life jobs and are generally low class people.

Regardless of anything else, definitely low class. Most of those with any sense of decency wouldn't mention this in public, even if they did act this way privately. He doesn't even realize how decent people look down on this.

Yet we all endlessly talk about how we want to run out, get a Droid or Eris and then just use it for 30 days and hope that we can take it back before the Incredible comes out. Get a grip, seriously. People do absolutely stupid stuff and get to use their insurance for it, if he wants to facilitate something stupid happening... more power to him. Better than wasting that extra cost on nothing.

A woman called the Care department of the Verizon Call Center that my girlfriend works at the other day and states that she dropped her Blackberry in a puddle. The customer service person starts explaining to the woman that she can take the phone to a store and they can help her replace it. The woman then tells them that it's dry now and that she (I'm not kidding) put it in the microwave for a few minutes to dry it out. At this point the person is holding back laughter, but then has to calmly explain the procedure to this person. Should this person EVER be allowed another electronic device? Probably not. Is she going to get one back because the has insurance and a warranty? Sadly, yes.

Does anyone think there will be any problems with carrying this phone in a pocket? I've always carried my phones in my pockets, but I've been hearing about dust problems and cracks on other phones (including the N1, which is a step-brother to this phone).

Ive had similar concerns. I've managed to crack the cover of two KRZRs now by using the pocket method. I'm planning on a switch to the holster method for this very reason.

Apple just released their new tampon, so give it a few days, and then Verizon can grab headlines with their own Jesus phone. Better than having the iPad steal your thunder a couple days after the announcement.

Today Verizon's win back dept called me and asked me why I was discontinuing my Verizon service (even though I'm not) I said because Sprint was cheaper. They gave me their network pitch and offered me one month of free service to stay. Of course I accepted and since I was speaking to a somewhat higher deptartment than typical the reps, I asked when the Nexus on was due to come out, the win back lady told me they had no release dates of the Nexus one but she said we are expecting to launch some new devices in May. I thought that sounded encouraging.

sorry boys and girls, but I still believe in a April release. Something tells me that they are not going to even mention a month let alone a day of when this phone is released. They may tell you May to keep you as a customer, and then publicly announce the phone next week with a release at the end of April.

To the poster above, they gave you a free month of service, well here it is April 3rd. This free mont of service will keep you around till MAY anyway.

The callender that we saw (calm down people it may be fake, but it could later prove to be real) said April 28th. That is only 3 days away from May first.

SOOOO if they give you a free month of service (say it ends May 3rd), by the time this happens we could have the Incredible in our pockets

I did a little searching around on the whole voice-to-text issue on Android 2.1 w/Sense UI. It seems the Desire is lacking it but I found a link that talks about the upcoming HTC EVO which also rocks Android 2.1 w/Sense UI and you can see that it definitely DOES support voice to text. So I think this gives credence to the thoughts that they disabled the voice to text for the European/Overseas market.

Take it FWIW but it definitely encouraged me that there's a good chance we'll see it on the Incredible. Here's the link: Sprint Introduces HTC EVO 4G

I'm going to guess that on Monday, or this week, after that infodoc getting leaked and having a ton of hits to it that the leadership will put something out, this is what happened with the Droid.

So you are saying that because we found the infodoc( Infomanager ) page today that they will see the hits to it and announce the phone sooner????

Wow, where to begin!

I have been lurking on this thread for a very long time. Let me start by saying that normally i quickly get bored with Forums, and threads really quick, and I usually do not follow a thread but instead I normally search through google for the tidbidts that i am looking for. I came across this thread, and for the fist time i have kept coming back and lurking to see what would happen next.

This thread has almost reminded me of the soaps that i was forced to watch years ago by my older sister. things that happened like...Who has brain cancer now, and then cured, who was arrested on bogus charges and then paroled (MM and Kappy) . Who was the crazy character always ready with a laugh (Steven58). Who was the evil person you always hated(Verizon's tight lippedness). The sexy tease (Incredible). Ok now i am rambling with a EDIT: CANT TYPE EITHER...LOL pretty bad analogy, The emotions that i have experienced reading this thread, the frustration, the excitement, the anger at the choads, the outrage of how the long time great sources were treated are a first for a forum.

It is amazing to me how much changes, if i cant get on for a day or two, it seems as if i have a novel to catch up on but i love reading all of the posts.

To all of the haters on here that complain of all of the OT posts on this thread, while i respect your opinion, i must say as a lurker, i have stayed on this thread and with android forums and found much entertainment in reading all of the banter that goes on here. I cant tell you how many times i have laughed out loud, all the while the wife looks at me like i have two heads with my addiction over this phone.

To the mods and Anonimac, Thank you!! for keeping this thread alive, for taking care of all of the flame wars that have came up, and for understanding that the somewhat OT banter is what makes this thread great and has kept me coming back to AndroidForums.

To NKT - Thank you for all of your hard work and information, it is much appreciated!

Sorry this thread is so long but i have a lot to express on my experience so far. So i bid all of you hello, and now i have 30 pages to get caught up on.

All of you have inspired me to finally visit a company store and pump for information. i went today to a corporate store in the Richmond area. the amazing thing was they havent updated their store sales signs (Still BOGO on the DROID). I stood around for 10 minutes while all of the sales folks talked and laughed in the corner. Finally one came over to me by the droid and eris display and i asked about other droid phones. He tried to push me onto the Droid but i told him i wanted a better phone with not external keyboard and that i had heard of other newer HTC devices coming out. The only response i got was a deer in the headlights and drool coming off the mouth. i said thanks but no thanks. I know this isnt anything new or profound but i wanted all of you to know that my inspiration came from the group here.

LOL, I hope I'm right too! It's one of the main features I need to get away from hardware keyboards...even though I may not use it all the time, just knowing I could will be a major mental crutch!

I read on brighthand.com that they're expecting the Hero 2.1 update to include voice to text: HTC Hero May Finally Get its Android OS 2.1 Upgrade in April

And I also found another link that discusses in depth the lack of voice to text in the Desire AND how to enable it! I thought it was worth posting because it makes the likelihood that we could enable it on our Incredible as well since it's another case of Android 2.1 w/Sense UI. Hey guys, I've been rabid about this phone, like many of you all have been. I did some hardcore snooping today, frustrated, and then a call at the end of the day shed some light at the end of the tunnel. Here's my story:

I went to my local Verizon store authorized retailer using my NE2 as a guise for my plan:

Unsuccessful Physical Attempt

Front guy: Can I assist you with anything today?

Me: Yeah, see my NE2 is up, and The Droids just went of BOGO, so I was wondering if you knew when the nexus or the htc incredible is going to hit?

Representative next to Front guy: Uhh... Let me get my manager.

Front guy: Let me get your name real quick, and I'll put you on the list.

Wait.... wait..... wait.... (manager approaches after a few minutes)

Manager: How can I help you?

Me:Yeah, my NE2 is up, and I know the Droids were on BOGO, and that ended, so I may be looking to upgrade soon...

Manager: (cutting me off) let me get your number and the name on the account.

Puts it in, says I'm not authorized, blah blah, I've had problems with this in the past.

Me: so when is the Nexus one coming? I know Sprint is getting it at the end of the month, and VZW is getting it in Spring for sure.

Manager:We're not Sprint, so I honestly don't know.

Me: Oh, well then, are there any new android phones coming out soon?

Manager: We're not getting any new android phones anytime soon.

Me: Not even the Incredible?

Manager: I've never heard of it, so no.

This guy was kind of a dick, like major dick. Upset me how dick-y he was. So I play with some Pre-plus' toying around with the idea that I could just pick one up for a few weeks and see how I like it, then I pull the front guy aside and start talking, turns out we used to work for the same marketing company selling FIOS, kinda gets me in.

Me: So you think you could hook me up with a person at the computer so I can get them to look up a model number for a phone?

Front guy: What for?

Me: Its a new phone coming out, I know its in the system, I've seen the numbers, I want to see if you guys have record of it, its in the cellbrite.

Front guy: Alright, I'll put you down again, not a problem.

Me: sweet thanks man.

Actually... I got no where with the next convo or two, they were all playing dumb, here's the only interesting part:

Me: The model number is ADR 6300, it's an HTC android phone, should be in the system

Guy next to computer lady: Oh, isn't that the Eris?

Me: Close, the Eris is the 6200, this one is the HTC incredible.

Guy: (interesting look, like I just said something that I shouldn't know) oh, okay.
.
.
.
.
Lady is ignorant and ends up going on HTC website and is like "naa I don't see it, we only can see current and past phones". All the while my friend is laughing hysterically as I futilely try to pump this knobs for information.

Successful Call:

But I did have one really successful call to an authorized retailer:

Lady: Hello, thank you for calling Verizon Wireless on XXXXXX N XXXXX

Me: This is an authorized retailer of VZW right?

Lady: Yes we are.

Me: Okay cool, see my NE2 is up, and the droids just went off BOGO, and I would prefer not to pay $200 for a phone thats been out for almost 6months, and I know the Nexus is supposed to drop soon, or so says the website, I was wondering if you knew anything about it?

Lady: Yes we do, It's set to drop at the end of the month, we should have them by then.

Me: Alright then, are they going to be available in store?

Lady: Yes they are, they will be for SALE in the store by the end of the month.

Me: Awesome, now do you know anything about the Incredible, and when that is set to drop?

Lady: The phone we are getting IS the Incredible, it's a modified Nexus basically, made for Verizon. You should try out the Eris in the store, because it doesn't have a slide out keyboard like the droid, and it's got some other things that are different, so if you like the eris, then you should definitely wait for this phone.

Me: Interesting, do you know of any other Tweaks besides it missing a keyboard? Like a better camera?

Lady: I can't recall specifically, but I think it has slightly better features than the Nexus one, but definitely uses the same processor.

Me: Great, so I can call back in a couple weeks, or come in by the end of the month and see if you all have it in stock?

Lady: Yes you can!

Me: Thank you very much, I just didn't want to spend the $199 on the droid if something better could be coming out!

Lady: That understandable.

Me: Thanks for all the help, I really appreciate it.

Sorry for the dialogue stuff, I promise this is legitimate, I've been driving my friends up a wall with as much as I talk about this thing, I wouldn't lie, I'm going to work on getting an audio clip so I can post it up and you guys can have a listen. I'm hoping that this will add a little credibility to the APR 28th expected date. Thanks!

I'd say keep being persistent, if they get annoyed enough, they might let something slip. VZWOffers unofficially confirmed the HTC Incredible....maybe you can get an 'Unofficial' release date.

Edit: for all those wanting I phones, Verizon will NOT be good. Stay with the carrier that has had the iphone for years, they'll be able to serve you much better. Verizon, being new to the iphone will provide inferior service, stay away, please

Regarding your OT news...I am happy to share your sentiment as I am a UNC alumni.
