Root Problems with duplicate Text Msg's.

So.. I'm not sure whether this fits in this section but, I have had issues with receiving duplicate SMS Msg's. I believe I'm using [ROM] MTDEV-CM7 build 20121015. I have the "use sender timestamp" option ticked in SMS settings in the stock SMS app. When receiving multiple page Msg's they will come in over the course of 2 to 10 mins & often hours later I will get a SMS notification & its the same Msg or single pages of it. This duplication will happen 3 or 4 times & the timestamp will be the same. It is making convrsation very difficult & there isnt enough service where I live to hold an actual talking phone conversation. I'll see if I can find an example of a more appropriate conversation to give y'all an idea of what's going on.

it's probably VM's service in your area. One of the thing that happen is a check to see if a message was received. If you have flakey service, then it's possible that the system is not getting the confirmation that it wants. Why it somes as MMS and SMS? I don't know.Might be on the sender's fault. could be incompatablity between carriers. Someone said they were having trouble with Verizon customers.

You could always do a nandroid backup and try another flash/ROM and see what happens. Maybe have some friends who would test with you. Try to make note of the varoius carriers and phones. That goes double with modded phones.

i been having this same problem with 10/15 my service has always been shady and never had the amount of dupes i been getting

I'm with you both 100%. This seemed to happen to me around the middle of last month after flash MTDEV CM7. I guess it's not critical, but it is extremely annoying.

I'm in the southern California area and get the duplicate texts on and off but just about daily.

I'm with you both 100%. This seemed to happen to me around the middle of last month after flash MTDEV CM7. I guess it's not critical, but it is extremely annoying.

Yes.. same exact problem & time frame. North of BOS. I ticked the "use sender timestamp off & I haven't seen the duplicate problem but just receive the rest of the Msg after I reply to the first half not knowing another is coming. Makes long winded communication very difficult seeing as no one actually picks up phone calls these days... Uggh.. lol.

Service providers... I'm not sure. I only have the MT on VM.

Service quality around here is less than stellar bu, I've figured out a weird trick to increase my bars. I allow the 180 rotation & use the M upside down when @home with crappy service. I usually get

I have only seen this with messages from my sister so will check her service. She has told me that some times when she sends me a text her phone tells her it did not go through when it actually has. She then sends it again thinking It had never been sent. Otherwise she is the only person I have ever seen this with. Also I have seen some strange bugs if keep messaging in memory is selected in performance settings.

I was using MTDEV CM7 and getting duplicate texts as well. I blame it on the ROM. I switched my ROM over to MIUI and I'm not having this problem anymore. I'd suggest that it's time to make a switch. You'll like either CM9 or one of the two MIUI versions available for MT. Personally, I especially love MIUI. I probably won't even bother going to CM9 even when the camera gets fixed.
